Titanium Grey Metallic color also on Shinsen Miata
The Limited Shinsen Miata will now also have the Tit Grey M on it. Bringing the total cars with this color (state side) to 3... [2002 SE Miata, 2003 Shinsen Miata, 2004 RX-8] Maybe this version will hit dealerships before we take delivery of our cars and this will be a way of us to go see the color in person and drool. since these are limited run cars (1,500) they probably won't last long, so look quickly.
Check out www.mazdausa.com for more details. check under the miata section and click on the SE and Shinsen link/icon

The titanium Gray on the 02 SE miata is not the same color that is going to be on the Rx-8. The paint code on the miata was 25g, on the rx8 it's going to be 29y. and please excuse my ignorance, but whats a shinsen Miata, I know they have the stripped down scca racer miata, and there will be another special edition, and theoreticaly a mazdaspeed miata, (mazda hasn't sent us much info on it yet), but i have never heard of the shinsen
I remember reading Mazda's press release about this a few days ago. It think the mechanicals are the same as a normal Miata but the Shinsens all have a different styling touch.
"The Shinsen Version, which derives its name from the Japanese term for "new and fresh," sports new interior treatments and a special Titanium Gray Metallic exterior. The Shinsen turns heads with a dramatic dark-blue cloth top and matching dark-blue cloth bucket seats. A two-tone color-keyed leather-wrapped shift ****, dark-blue door inserts, embroidered floor mats, a
Convenience Package (tweeters, power door locks, cruise control, remote keyless entry) and aluminum interior trim pieces round out the "fresh" interior."

I was told from Mazda that the Titanium Gray on the 2002 Miata SE is the same color as the RX-8 Titanium Gray.
The Shinsen's popup says the color is Titanium Grey Metallic. The RX-8 is Titanium Grey Mica. Those are two different colors. I think you were given a bum steer from the horse's mouth

Maybe they are giving people in Texas a different choice, but www.mazdarx-8.com shows that it is Titanium Grey Metallic. Red and Green are a Mica color, Yellow has no distinction, Black is clearcoat, and Blue Grey and Silver are Metallic.

"I was told from Mazda that the Titanium Gray on the 2002 Miata SE is the same color as the RX-8 Titanium Gray."
Was it somebody from Mazda, or from a Mazda Dealer. For the most part, salesmen at dealers dont have a clue about anything automotive. They will tell you what ever will make you happy and save them from having to look up the correct information. That's true across the board in all makes dealers, with the exception of maybe highend cars like ferraris. I don't know how many times I've tried to explain why somthing works the way it does to another salesman, and have them look at me like i was speaking japanese. As far as the color goes, they are showing 2 different paint codes for the two cars, which doesn't make sense if it's the same color. Perhaps it is, but all the titanium rx8 I have on order are showing 29y as the paint code, and all the titanium se miatas i sold showed 25g as their's.
