STI for 06 or 07?

I'm still undecided on this, but this is supposedly the new 06 STI coming out in Japan later this year, and likely due to be an 07 Model in the US. I'm unsure about the legitimacy, but I figured I'd share anyway. I do expect to see more power and performance by the time the 07 is here. I am gonna try to pay mine off by spring of 2007 so I can get the better, more powerful model. Feel free to prove, disprove , like dislike the looks of this, because I have no freaking idea.

Looks no worse than the current version I suppose. Not much of a step in any direction style wise. That grill is umm interesting

The STi kind of has a love it or hate it design. Since I'll be taking delivery an 05 STi this week, I can honestly say I love the design, but not too fired up about the possible upcoming changes. Who knows though, with enough of a performance improvement looks can be over looked

That's a very very old article, and also just a photochop. Those pics have been going around longer than you've owned your STi and there have also been a couple posts on here about it. So... do a dearch noobie! :p :D

Anyhow, I'm still undecided on if I like it or not. But word is, that design or similar design has been pushed back for another year or two, so maybe they're rethinking their direction.

It would be nice if the subaru would be a 2.0l like the rest of the rally scene.....I am still a fan of the lancer evo cause its 2.0l and has a more intense ride......newayz to each his own

By all accounts the 2.5l makes the car better, it may lose a bit of it's rally roots but last I checked no one was entering stock STis in the WRC...

The only thing the Evo is an underdog to the STi in is the WRC, where they've been absolutely atrocious the last few years. Well that and the fact that Mitsubishi has turned into a mess of a company while Subaru just keeps increasing their market share and making more and more good cars...

I am pretty confident that there will be a new design and significant changes by 2007. Whether this is a crock or not I don't know and don't care, but it does make something to talk about.
On a different note, I think Mazda owners need to open their eyes a bit. When I got my RX8, I too thought the STI was ugly, and found myself criticising it just as you are. Then my bias opinion changed once I saw one and drove it. I still and always will hate that wing though I admit. It's amazing how a car like that can grow on you when you drive it. You get a feel for it, admire it's amazing performance, then your eyes finally open and the car suddenly starts looking better to you. I'd love for those STI bashers to get in one and drive it for yourself. If you are a car enthusiast at all, you'll give it it's props. I'm thankful to be able to afford to own both. There's a reason why the STI's fly off lot, hold their value well, and will have continued success in future. Hopefully in future we'll see same success with RX8 as we do the WRX.

Underdog? The underdog is the STI , not the Evo. I guess in this case you prefer the favorite. STI is still falling a close second place in every comparison and review. The EVO is still superior in overall performance, which is the car's primary objective. We'll see if THE UNDERDOG, can answer back in 2007 with a car that wll take out the EV once and for all. We'll see.

Forget the STi, make mine the S203!

Not sure if this will make it over to the US, but I'd take the S203 over the STi anyday. I believe these will only be made in limited numbers, but 320ps is nice. I like the rear wing better too, a little less obnoxious than the STi's.

Hmmm, but the Imprezza S203 is a factory limited edition car by Subaru, not a tuner shop. Only 555 will be made.

The ESX Subaru will be more limited and also have a full factory warranty, it will be sold through Subaru dealers.
