I went to my dealer today to check out the 05 models in person and to see a white RX-8. There was no whites on the lot, but I noticed that all the 6-speeds had their shift ***** removed. I assume the dealer does it to prevent theft. I know one person had his stolen at a Rev-It-Up. Anybody else know of this problem?

i was at the LA auto show a few years back, and apparently almost all the shift **** were stolen off cars. Some dealers were smart enough to remove them first. Fun fact

well--considering how much Mazda charges for em--I wouldn't doubt it. But folks will steal anything.

i think the dealer removed all the shiftknobs because of theives. personally, i wouldn't even buy an rx-8 from a dealer that has to do that to their cars.
