Hey guys, so I am going to have to put a hold on buying my first 8. Having to buy an apartment and trying to start a life with the woman. I was just thinking though. Say you happened to be lucky and won a $1 million dollar lottery. Would you still buy an 8?

What car would you buy? Would you buy a supercar? Lambo, Ferrari, Aston?

Or would you buy a car say an 8 or an sti or Evo and put all the extra money into making it supercar standards. 700hp Evo could beat a stock Lambo? What would you guys do?

Some people are more impressed with the name on the badge, that's fine but it is not everything. Unless you are swimming in money I don't see a point in spending that much on a car, even then I don't think I could do it.

If you won 1 million in the lottery the lump sum would be around ~600k and then after taxes you would be left with under 400k. So say you wanted a new 2013 ferrari you would be spending over half your money on a car. Even buying one a few years old you are still spending a large chunk of it on a car.

How about the guys with 1,000+ posts actually respond to the thread instead of just trying to boost their post count.....anyways this is meant to be a fun topic if you have nothing decent to say then dont say it. I just want to see how many people would spend $300,000 of their $1 million on a car and who would buy a $40,000 car and make it as good as a supercar.

well if i won a mil here in NZ (we don't pay tax on lotto winnings) id build a house and invest the rest.

i would not spend my money on a car which will depreciate

i'd keep my 8, turb it and use as a daily

a million is not a lot of money these days

Thanks xex, I was thinking more of a lump some million but its all theoretical. I mean if I won $1mil I could justify spending $100-200k on a car or at least to build a car you will enjoy, the rest for kids college and a house and so on but as for spending $500k on a car, thats a bit pushing it.

Not enough to go berserk with these days so just throw it in the bank and collect the interest and continue the current daily grind.

after a few months and the interest has built up a little bit pay any, and all bills wait a few more months then deck out the my 05 8 new engine the works, then buy an R3,M3(E46), and a EVOX.

I like to think I would not buy a very expensive car and just build up a lower priced one. If I had 1 million I would like to put a 3 rotor in the 8, a turbo on top of that might be pushing it and be too much power but it is a consideration. There are also many other upgrades you should probably do at that point. I would rather have a car I was able to pick every part for than just buy one that is already very fast.


The only production supercar I would consider would be a GT-R, it is probably best bang for the buck if you absolutely have to buy a premade car.

I am sure there are probably a ton of threads already out there but how much power can you safely put into an 8 and still use it as a daily driver? I think I saw someone was doing a 4 also? Or maybe it was only a 3?

If I had a million dollars I would buy quite a few cars. RB powered restored 240Z, sick 20B FD, NSX, first gen Skyline, R32, R34 nurbur edition, Porsche 993 Turbo and 996 Turbo, E30 M3, F350 rig and and enclosed trailer, etc, etc.

Only a few people actually post just to boost their post count. Even if it's off topic, I generally wouldn't assume it's for that purpose...

What are the limitations here? If I had $1 mil for anything? For a single car? For as many cars as possible?

If I had 1 million to spend on anything, I might get a good daily driver and a sports car (likely a nice project car) and be responsible with the rest or spend it in other areas. If I had 1 mil to spend on a single car, I'd probably pick a really awesome project car. Can't say for sure what I would pick for that... I'd try to spend as much of that million as possible if that was the only thing I could do with it. If I could get multiple cars, I'd get a good daily driver and a variety of projects.... a decent range of options at that. Just to name a few: Lotus exige, B5 S4 avant, 335i, RX-7, Audi Quattro, FC, FD, maybe a new 5.0 mustang, porsche 944, old Z car (280?), Evo? I like to have options with a little variety as well. I'd want at least one car with plenty of power... I like high power awd cars, so probably something like that. Also, a rwd car with a good balance and great handling. A GT-R (R34) would also make the list, but would depend on availability.

Start the 20b swap on my RX-8 for a time attack project and pick up an FD and FC for daily/project cars. Also build some spec miata's for myself and some of my friends. Try to save the rest and go back to school as well and get a better job most likely.

I'd get a bmw 335d, considering the price of diesel is relatively cheaper and it would make a comfortable yet sporty ride.

If I won a million, I'd plan on investing in long term investment via stocks for companies that make the technology for the larger companies... if that makes sense.

I'd wait a few months, waiting for hints on new technology, or watching the stock market consecutively if I do feel a larger company is worth the investment (most of the time it's not.)

After a few months, the interest I would have built up from having it in my savings account would be able to pay for a 7 or turbo my 8, which would be the ONLY money I'd put into my car... as I was happy with my car to begin with.

Like I said, 75% of it will be invested, probably 10-15% in CDS for long term and the rest just keep to live with for a bit.


Is that good enough of an answer?
