Mazda Demio Skyactiv tops survey of Japan Eco Cars..Prius in 2nd place
"The Demio, which starts at 1.15 million yen ($14,950 U.S. at the current exchange rate), returns the equivalent of 58.8 miles per gallon on Japan's JC08 evaluation cycle."
Impressive.
Impressive.
Will we (USA) even get any SkyActiv This year?
Cuz MazdaUSA just updated their Mazda3 to "2012" model and guess what, nothing. Still the same old 2.5 ... no SkyActiv

. I just checked it out myself and you're right in that they aren't showing anything to do with Skyactiv for the 3. My understanding is that it is one month away.Paul.
It is shown on their US "media" site???

because MazdaUSA.com is handle by another company, nothing related to the Mazda Media site ? -_-
I sent a message to Mazda on Facebook telling them to update the site. I explained that I am the primary 'SKYACTIVIST' in the world and that they were negatively affecting my sales promotion

It is a "media" -press site operated for-by MNAO...
Up until a few years ago Ford US ran the media site for Mazda NAO..before that (1990's) I don't think they even had one for the press on-line.

My guess is, they haven't added it to the USA lineup yet because the engine is too effing small for the USA and anyone who drives one will get run over on the highway.
I very much want to see SkyActiv available in the USA, but I'll be damned if I'll ever drive a fourbanger with less than 2L displacement unless it has an electric assist motor.
EDIT: I might be willing to go as low as 1.6L, but only with a CVT transmission so the engine can stay in its powerband at any speed.

/\ Got to really agree with you, anything less than 2.0L is just annoying to use in open spaces and in large countries.....1.3 and 1.6 might be OK for Japan and Europe or a shopping trolley..
My MX-5 is as small as I would EVER go as a car, engine and body size...

BTW, Mazda in the US had one of their best months for a long time and it is ABOUT bloody Time!..
Mazda 2 sales (1387) were up by almost 200% on August last year.
Total August sales up 14.7% over Aug 2010.

The increased sales of the Mazda2 can be attributed to the vehicle’s family appeal and good looks; but word-of-mouth may be a factor, too. Consumer awareness of the model is increasing as satisfied Mazda2 owners share the buzz.
