Has anyone else seen one of these new Maximas on the road??? I saw one on the road the other day and I almost had to pull over to puke! LOL It looks like an Altima that's been stretched out and then had every conceivable angle rounded off, almost like they wanted to take the "Volkswagen Passat look" to an extreme. I don't know what Nissan was thinking when they designed it. At least the Altima looks ok.

I agree, the new Maxima looks horrible! I can't believe this car is designed by the same people who designed the 350Z. The Altima looks nice, the new Murano looks nice, but the Maxima is a complete failure~ Looks like an Altima with plastic surgery gone wrong.
I can't stand all the new nissan's grills. The maxima's grill and the murano's grill are just too ugly. The new mitsubishi grills are also very ugly. The enavor or what ever and the evo VIII both have a similar ugly looking grill. I wish they kept the evo VII's grill, o well what can you do.

I have to disagree with you all. Saturday I drove to my area nissan dealership because one of my friends is a salesman at the dealer. They had a brand new shipment of 5 new maximas. I saw a sunset orange one at the auto show and didnt like it too much. However, they had a black one, a silver one, two dark blue ones and a red one on the lot and god damn they looked nice in darker colors. The black was stunning. The car looks really nice on the road. I took the black one out for a test and the ride was just ok. But the interior was incredibly nice. It had wood and aluminum accents everywhere. The back seat had a console just like in the rx-8. when you open the drivers door, the seat moves back and the steering wheel moves up. That was pretty nifty. So i know you all hate nissans because they are big mazda competitors, and yes I love mazdas, but I would take the maxima over a millenia any day.
I really like the interior of the new Maxima, especially that sunroof thing. Looks like they're trying to copy the RX-8's backbone, though, with all sorts of hidey-holes in it. Kinda cool.
BUT...I think the exterior is awful- the new grille looks like a retarded cadillac front, and the entire thing just looks HUGEand bulky. I am, however, NOT a sedan fan at all.
And Miata35, you'd HAVE to take the Maxima, since they don't make the Millenia anymore
Actually, I'm a pretty big Nissan fan. I owned a black '93 240SX coupe for a number of years which I ended up doing a good number of modifications to. I also like a number of their other cars such as the Skyline and some of the Infiniti products. The new Maxima is just not very good looking IMHO. I agree that the previous Maxima looked better. I guess Nissan doesn't consider it a "four door sports car" anymore.
The rear has two red bulbs, one is tail/turn the other is tail/brake.
No positively signalling brake lights, no amber turn signal, no optional rear fog light. Totally American '70s
The front (non HID) has a static leveling projector and when you go to 'high' beams the only thing that happens is the projector shield drops away, no extra light + if the fog lights (little projectors next to headlights) where on, they go off.
No city lights upfront, only an amber park/turn, no lateral turn signal-fender, mirror, etc.
The lengthwise sunroof is fixed (non opening) and is biscected by the roof crossmember (not visible from outside)
4 seats in the elite package, What ever floats your boat.
Whatever you think about the new Maxima, you sure can't say it looks like any other manufacturer's car(s). Nissan has gone onto the "wild" side. Some things work and others, well, and there are others.
I like the fact of uniqueness of the Nissan body designs.
I do not like the excessive use of aluminum in the interior, just a little too cold for my taste.
Longevity of the Nissan engine . . . can't go wrong. They last.

It's so people can't complain that it takes up too much interior head room, or that it looks dumb poped out!
