Need avice large dilema

Ok so ive loved rx8's since the day i saw one, Loved it even more once i drove it, but i cant afford a new one because i only wanna put out about 23-24k and cant seem to find any rx8's for that much because i want leather 6sp preferbly gt package. Then i also love the evo VIII and a guy i know will sell me his for 19k great condition a little under 30k miles. So i was thinking id go ahead and do that and throw a system in it and a indash dvd/navi. Ive been looking for a rx8 that i like and is within my price for about 5 months now and little luck seems like everytyime i find one its too far away or gets sold right before i want to buy it. Im really tired of waiting and i want one or the other really bad and i think i will be happy with either but i dont want to look back and say why couldnt i of waited 2 more months and found that rx8, i mean i check autotrader and cars.com everyother day ive called so many random mazda dealerships to see what they have. And my mazda dealership sucks they say they cant locate a used rx8 for me even though i know they can they say they are too rare and their prolly arnt any at all because they go one or two days after they are stocked. So what is your advice if you were in my shoes, oh and one more thing i usually have a full car riding around in my explorer so the evo's room is also a large plus.

Thanks
Ryan

The RX8 is just about as roomy as the EVO, but the ride is nicer in my opinion.
But here you go.

I would buy the 8 sport package and get it with alot less miles then 30K. Do the aftermarket leather when I could or maybe by that time you would realize the leather wasn't as important as you thought because the cloth is a great seat imo. I would never use the NAV. Always been able to get to where I needed to go before they had Nav. But I am not in your shoes so I dunno

Well you're going from an Explorer to a sports car, so you are loosing lots of space there. If I had to choose, I would def get the 8, but that may not be practical for you since your also looking for space. Do like bmcc49er says and get the sport package, drive it around for a while and then add the extras. I have a GT w/Nav and to be honest I've only use the darn thing like once or twice. Other stuff like the air dam, aero pkg etc. you can get after market.

The EVO has a lot more room than the RX8. I was able to fit in my EVO my dad in the front seat (6'0") and my father-in-law right behind him (6'5") in the back seat. You can't do that in the RX8.

I chose the EVO over the RX8 because I put more value on performance (mainly acceleration) and practicality than amenities (auto climate, leather, nav). The EVO definitely has a stiffer ride but it's not too bad depending on the condition of the roads in your area.

Ask yourself what is most important to you. Do you like acceleration, beautiful interior, do you need the practicality of 4 doors and a big trunk? What about the image of the car? boy racer EVO vs. classic sports car? AWD vs. RWD: do you live in a place with bad weather? do you want to be able to do a burn out or drift? Modifiying: the EVO is a tuner's wet dream with boat loads of power able to be unleashed for little $'s. It all comes down to personal preference.

AbusiveWombat, does that mean you're a boy racer?

shorty, it's up to you what you decide on but think of it for more than short term as hopefully you'll have this car for at least the next 4 years. What's going to make you happy and fulfill your needs for that time frame? Things change as you get a little older. Whatever you do, don't settle.

I loved the evo when I drove it, because it's fast as hell, but that was the only category it beats the RX-8 in. The 8 looks better(ok that's an opinion), has a much nicer interior (evo's interior is like a basic economy car), the ride is much smoother thanks to a slightly softer suspension, the seats are more comfortable, salesmen are willing to negociate more, and the insurance is MUCH less

i love all of that really i love acceleration the roads are in pretty good condition i live north florida so their is no snow even though i would like to be able to not worry about getting stuck going to my property and im sure the evo would handle it no problem, then on the other side im very interested in having a smooth ride thats nice, alot of my friends arent as into cars as i am so i dont know if ill get the props alot of you would for having an evo, one of my friends thought it was a galant with a bench spoiler and rims until i tried to explain to him. My main dilema is i love both cars the rx8 i like more, but im just tired of trying to find one, and i got a nice evo right here in town that a guy i know owns and is willing to sell me it for 19 which will give me money for some cool mods like system and indash dvd and i can still pack 5 ppl in my car when we go to lunch at school, cuz everyone always rides with me.

Goods bads from my opinion

Evo
goods:
speed
room
big trunk
price ( for the one im getting)
availablity
i can have money for a indash dvd and system

Bads:
looks like a ricer to ppl that are dumb about cars
wont get the props i should for a 30k car
not as comfortable
doesnt have leather seats
too big for me to be able to wash the top without a stool..lol

Rx8
goods:
i still like the smooth speed of it, its fast enough for me.
turns heads everywhere
get alot of props
smooth ride
takes 60 mph turns like its on a rail

bads:
theirs like 20 in my town compared to 2 evos
smaller
expensive
rare cant locate one
slower then evo

im so confused

i would wait for the 8, im sure you can find one and get a great deal. The resale value of preowned 8's is really low right now, compared to what u pay for new
