My 8 is finally sold.

Well, after having it for sale for months, my 8 has been sold. I'm taking care of all the paperwork on monday morning. From now on I'm looking for a suitable LS1 Camaro. 300whp/320wtq here I come. More importantly, this will be a huge jump in torque. I love my (former) 8, and I always will, but I learned I care about speed much more than good looks. 500whp here I come.

Should've found a way to swap a LS1 into an 8 instead!

Eh, should have waited for the new camaro. As much as I love F-Bods, they are all overpriced for what they are.

However, you bought a good engine...you'll have problems with everything else though (this is coming from first hand experience )

dude trust me i have an 02' ws6 and the things garbage. the interior just fell apart after owing the car for about 6 months. i handled so poorly that just driving would begin to **** me off. the only thing decent about it was the ls1. unless you're gonna build a drag car don't bother. if you really wan a gm with a ls series motor get a gto, those have far better build quality.

As for the other comments, I forgot about how everyone here flames you when you decide to sell your 8.

Handling? Upgraded suspension goes a long way. I didn't get a GTO because they're too heavy.

upgraded suspension isnt going to get you near the 8's handling.. plus you get cheap interior, and a notchy clunky transmission.

believe me your being ALOT less car.

That's your opinion. I've owned the 8 for a year and a half, and I've gotten sick of going WOT and having the car go nowhere. I don't care about the interior, I care about speed. Complain all you want about F-bodies, but they're faster than 8's and that's what matters to me.

It's a whopping two hundred pounds difference from the Camaro.... but it sounds like you'll be buying a 1999 to 2002 automobile instead of something that's not going to require constant attention. Believe me, you are going to learn about every single detail of that car, because you'll have to fix it.

Just a thought... 04 LS1 powered GTO's can be had for a steal. At least test drive one. Comfort with far more refinement and also has the power. I sound like the frickin brochure. I'll stop.

i'm not flaming you for selling your 8. i sold mine casue i want something faster and my 8 was turbo'd. but i own a ws6 i've had it since before i got the 8, that was 3 years ago and i still cant get rid of it, i couldn't even trade it in cause it lost so much of it's value and that was in 04. trust me those cars are junk. there;s way better cars out there if you want to be fast. i actually think the 8 could of held its own in a race vs the ws6

If the WS6 was stock, I'd say your turbo 8 (280whp) would be pretty even against a 300whp stock F-body. Simple bolt ons with the WS6 would be enough for it to win in a straight line, though.

I've researched which kind of car I want for 6 months. Basically I wanted an FD rx7, F-body, Corvette, or a GTO. Here's my reasoning on not getting the others. 13B-REW engines don't last with higher boost levels than stock. Hell, they don't even last long with stock twin turbos and stock boost. RX-7's are unreliable as hell, so that doesn't work. A corvette would have been ideal, but I could barely afford it, and I'd have to keep it stock for a couple years. I can't deal with that, so when my F-body dies, I'll probably end up buying a vette down the road.

As for the GTO - they're nice cars, and I have nothing against them. But I'm building a drag car, which means lots of mods and stripping the interior. I can't see any good reason to buy a GTO for the interior when I'm just going to get rid of most of it. Also, I already don't like that an F-body is heavier than an rx8 - a couple hundred more pounds is something I really don't want.

You may not like your WS6, but I really like F-bodies for what they are. I'm not concerned with nice interiors, etc. I just want a whole LOT of straight line grunt. And that's exactly what I'll get.

oh and by the way f-body cars are not 300whp stock, the ss & ws6 are 325 bhp and the t/a & z28 are 305 bhp. a ss is around 280 whp, not 300whp, thats a more realistic # for a c5 vette.
but regaurdless if you're building a drag car then go for it. i was under the impression you wanted something for the street

Don't let the factory numbers fool you, LS1 equipped cars dyno higher than their numbers would indicate and they're usually damn close to C5 dyno numbers.

that may be true. but in order for a f-body to be 300whp it would have to be in the 350bhp range, around where the ls1 vette is. i'm not saying that gm underrates their sports cars, but still last time i remembered the ls1 z28s where putting down between 275-290whp. atleast that's what i saw when i was considering to build my ws6

Depending on the dyno there have been plenty of later model WS6 and SS models dyno between 290 and 310whp stock. I know it's a little hard for an RX-8 owner to grasp the concept of a car being underrated, but it happens all the time
