It's definitely one of the nicest cars on the forum. How much have you thrown into that car? It seems to me that you will take a loss by trading for a stock 8.

Welcome to the club.
How much are you looking to get for that??

and IMO 400whp is stupid in a FWD car, a bit of a waste if you ask me, but it looks decent!.

i have invested (lol ) over 19K into the car. BUT isince i am such a bind, i am willing to trade with a stock rx-8 that i like. I am looking to get about 23K for the car.

about the comment of 400+ hp in a fwd, you are correct to an extent... but tell that to some of the srt-4 guys, they will rip your head off... still capable of low 12s high 11's... something many rx-8 owners can only dream about...

It may be fwd, but it really handles itself well for the amount of power it has.

how much are used rx-8's going for? If i am asking for 23K that is about the right price for a trade with a used rx-8 no?

SRT-4 guys, bahahah.

anyways, I am not to familiar with the used 8 market, especially in USD, but I would think you could find some used 8's out there with 15000+ miles on them for about 23k. You might beable to find a brand new 2004 still on a dealers lot for a couple grand more.

yes the srt-4 guys sometimes leave a little bit left to be desired upstairs but you still cant argue that fast is fast no matter fwd, awd,or rwd..

Nice car man, but it's very unlikely you'll get 23k for it. Your best bet would be to part it out, sell the parts, and then trade it in or sell it for an RX-8.

yeah I am stuck between a rock and a hard place... Considering the amount of money invested, i am taking a HUGE hit by selling for 22-23K. The car's motor is brand new, built and reliable. the body only has 20K on it. No winter driving either.

Good Lord. Very impressive bro. It's one of the nicest modified MSPs I've seen in a long time. Too bad when it comes to selling cars, you'll never get back your initial investment.

Good luck with finding an RX-8. I suggest the Base Model if you're broke like me.

Why do you need to sell it? Because you're going to law school, or because you need a new toy?

If it's because you're going to law school, I don't understand why you need to sell it. You apparently don't need the money.

that's pretty slick, I like the Bride seats, and that intercooler looks very intimidating. After spending 19k and putting all that work into it I would say just keep it, I've had to part with 2 project vehicles that I had done tons of work too, not a day goes by where I'm not bummed about it. don't make the sme mistake I made.

keep in mind that when purchasing the 8 it wasn't meant for 1/4 mile times..so lets not be so harsh about it...the 8 is actually more of a mature car...anyone can buy a srt or sti evo or whatever and run 12's 11's..its not hard...as far as shiggins comment goes ...400hp on a fwd is not useless...again you have very different views on things...next time make sure you know what you are talking about when you post such a biased comment...

other than that...thats a bad *** MSP...

yes i did take it to the track with my previous turbo kit on there. I was running a gt28rs with an stainless manifold etc ... My best was 13.5@109 at 18 psi of boost. Needless to say with a good set of slicks, 12s can be attained.

With the new setup i have yet to dyno it or take it to the track. I just put the kit on 2 weeks ago and it is now very cold in Michigan.

With the haltech tuned for 18 psi on this new kit, 350-375 whp would be expected.

-Bryan

Also about Law school. I want a nice car that I can tote people around in and still be fun to drive, factory warranty etc... I want to get out of modifying and i think a rx-8 or 350z will do that for me. I will be happy with either and wont be tempted to modify other than just rims.

not quite sure why you say my comment is biased.... I know the 8 wasnt made for 1/4 mile... that is half of my appeal for the car. I want that more mature image (i.e. law school etc)...

my comment was only based towards those who maybe purchased an rx-8 realized it wasnt as powerful as they would want it, and are thinking of other options that will suit their needs (i.e fast in a straight line but also can hold its own in the twisties).

I meant in no way to badger the rx-8. It is a beautiful car, but maybe leaves a little bit left to be desired in the straight line performance dept.

I still want one though

Financial is just a small part, I really miss driving what I created as well. I built rides that stood apart from their stock counterparts, one of them had shaved everything, full custom interior (all work done by me with help from friends) etc.. and the other had a total front end conversion, all kinds of performance goodies, a one off custom made billet steering wheel designed to match my custom offset Budnik wheels, more cool bodywork tricks etc.. etc.. If I had it to do over, I'd have kept them instead of pitching them for stock. now I have something everyone else has, instead of something I built from stock to wow. At least its yellow though..not as common as some of the other colors

would you all think a trade is really something that could happen? It isnt unfathomable is it? It seems like a pretty good trade from my point of view. Even if someone wanted to trade and then part it, they would make money on the deal.

Trade in for an 04 RX8 will put you close, if you find the right dealer. You will need to find someone that appreciates and values the work you have done to the car, which is hard to find. As long as you are looking into the lower models of the 8 you should have no problem getting a good deal that you can get close to evening up on. Base 04 6 speed with a few extras will run you around 24-26k.

Well if you took the time to read my post, I said that I felt it is stupid not useless and I didn't claim it as fact. It certainly has a purpose, to send gobs of power to the front wheels, a method of power delivery which is less efficient as far as total vehicle performance is concerned versus a RWD car. That is why I think it is a waste. I don't really think it is a very different view of anything, it is a fact. I know more than enough about physics to make that call thanks.

I still like the car man, looks great.

*edited for semantics :p*

Funny you use the word efficient, because drivetrain loss with a FWD car is usually less than that of a RWD car. So your facts seem a bit ummm non factual :p I understand what you're getting at but don't come across so strong unless you know what you're talking about.
