Mustang vs. RX-8
I personally think the "NEW" Mustang is a joke. There is NOTHING new about it. OLD technology in an OLD body. Sure it was HOT in the 60's but its not the 60's. Compare to the 8. :
Weight 3500 vs. 3000
50/50 Dist. -NO ( not even close I would think with that big engine)
Independent rear suspention-NO(their "3 link" is NOT independent)
Traction Control - NO
Side Curtin Air bag f/r - NO
Heated Seats - NO
Suicide doors - NO
HID headlights - NO
And these are only a few i could think of fast, I'm sure there are more. Find ONE option in the Mustang that the 8 doesnt have! I could care less if it has 300hp, dont forget its also 500LBS heaver. The 8 is such a better value its not even funny. The weird thing is everybody says when talking about the car how it is such a great value! What a joke. Somebody PLEASE tell me why this car is such a great value.

Stock, I don't like the way they look, but they have brass *****. No need to start a VS thread... especially when it's been beaten to death.

The value is that it's cheaper and faster than our 8s and about 300hp/300lb-ft. If you can't see value in that, then...
EDIT... you talk about not caring about the 300hp because it's 500 lbs heavier, but you must realize that it's still FASTER in the 1/4 mile and FASTER 0-60 than our 8s.
EDIT...it's funny, a (girl) friend of mine just ordered a 2005 MT Mustang. She said I could drive it when it comes in about a month. Should be interesting. I'm hoping to snap some pics of it with my 8.

Let me identify the one and only thing that matters with regards to sports cars for all the mag/paper racers:

Well, that other tread delt with the performance issues. o-60 etc. MY point is the 05' Mustang will probably sell like crazy and i really wonder why. Do i hate fords? You bet! BUT i always give a car a chance. This car has NOTHING new. I find that really strange. Look at the new GTO or the new Charger, plenty of new techology and really great cars for the money.

ALL OLD TECH. What exactly does a 50/50 seat do for ya? I'll give ya the audio system, our BOSE systems was and is the only truely disappointing thing about the 8. Don't forget I cant hate ford too much...i own an 8!

RX8 and a Truk....
Mustangs CAN handle themselves quite well. I'd challenge ANY stock RX8 to keep up with an 04 Mustang Cobra on ANY road course...
(shrug). The 05's handle even BETTER than the 04's chassis.

The handling is equal to a 350z Touring. Car and Driver 10 Best (just like the RX-8)You don't like the Mustang, don't buy it. I'm sure there are people on Mustang boards talking about what a joke the RX8 such as shitty gas milage, oil consumption, no torque etc...

RENISIS, Carbon fiber drive shaft, HID lights, 5point independent rear susp., Traction control ,etc. Are these GROUND breaking, no BUT at least it justifies the price. If people are saying the Mustang's price is justified because its fast, well if that is ALL that matters the the Mustang is the car for you, its no value to me.

dos, this IS the place to discuss other cars, "General Automotive" And of course i will not buy a mustang. Do people rip on our car, of course. Does it bother me, No. We are just talkin here. I am trying to prove a point, That the O5' Mustang is not a great value. I am not tryin to **** people off, I'm just wonding why people think it is.

Don't forget that regardless that it's 500lbs heavier, it's still hella faster than the RX8. And one option of the top of my head that the Mustang has over the RX8 is custom color-configurable interior gauges.
The Mustang isn't hella faster, it's just faster. The STi is hella faster. Oh and the custom color thing? I WANT THAT! I think that's a cool option. :D

Well... the Renesis engine IS brand new! And has won awards! Sure it's a rotary which has been around, but this engine itself is new. It has low emissions which is a problem the old rotaries had.
Somebody PLEASE tell me why this car is such a great value.
1) Cool retro styling. You might not like it. I like it and plenty of other people love it.
2) 300 HP/300 lb-ft = faster in the straight than the 8.
3) Under 30K
4) Handles itself decently according to reviews
Then again the automatic has the most god ugly shifter.

That 'point' is impossible to prove, because the numbers work against you...the 'performance data' shows the Mustang GT is a GREAT 'performance' value.
