Question The Most Things to Happen to One Car!!!

After hearing, in one of the forums here, that a one guys RX-8 got keyed, hit buy a flying piece of wood, and hit in the parking lot.
I figuerd that it would be fun to start a thread on on who's car has had the most things happen to it.

Rules are:

1. Can be any car, does not have to be the RX-8.

2. Every one of the events listed must have happend to one particular car.

3. Keep it clean for all of those people who are still bitter for what happend to there car.

Thanks,
Synergy

Ohh, I bought a piece of crap Cougar when they came out re-designed in '99. Bought it in the Spring... had it almost a year!! These may not be accidents on this car, but this car WAS an accident!! :D Here is a list:

- 2 weeks of owning, brakes and rotors had to be replaced!
- Speakers would pop and sound would go in and out. Replaced speakers.
- CD played died. Replaced.
- Air/Heat unit went out (yes, it was the middle of summer)
- Brake pads and rotors replaced again!
- A/C Fan made horrible noise after replacement, replaced fan.
- Oil light came on.. oil leak.
- Rotors replaced AGAIN.
- gas gauge would 'stick'
- Engine light came on, exhaust system replaced.
- Engine light came back on.. took it in (3) separate times (Ford tech from out of state couldn't figure it out)
I gave up. Ford offered a buy-back.

Bought a '00 Celica GTS.
- It was 'doored' twice.
- Hit THREE times while parked (the second time was ONE week after the front bumper was replaced from the FIRST time! :D )
- Car was also hit in the front not long after that! (totaled other car).
- Rear-ended getting off the interstate.

Okay, I'll play.

My 8 has to be the most jinxed car I've ever owned. It can't touch Meow's Cougar, but hey... it ain't "Amurcan made", neither.

Bought my 8 in mid-July, '03:
- CEL within a few days.
- struck by flying road crap in Sept; required hood to be replaced and minor bodywork done on passenger rear wheelwell.
- Initial repair was unacceptable (overspray on windshield wipers, parts left hanging) so had to stay at bodyshop several more days
- A rat entered the engine compartment while it was parked in my garage and ate through three coolant hoses
- Mazda had to special-order the hoses from Japan; car sat for 5 weeks before being repaired
- battery died while sitting for so long... had to get new battery
- rear-ended on the freeway last week... $12,600 worth of damage. Since I can't convince them to total it, I'll be without it for at least 12 weeks.

Top THAT! (If you can, I feel very sorry for you.)

I remember my dad's 1980 something Dodge Aries. Man, so much happened to that car it was a disaster., but it took a lickin' and kept on tickin'. The few worst "highlights" were:

1. Hood flew up on the freeway and smashed against the windshield. (surprisingly not doing damage of any sort to the windsheild, but needless to say, the hood never quite fit the same again, though it also never popped open on the freeway again...never did figure out why it did though.)

2. One morning, my sister and dad were leaving for work, and when my sister went to get in the passenger front, the door came off in her hand. (That was hilarious)

3. It got smashed by a huge dump truck on the driver's front corner. (One of those huge 10 wheel mack-like dump trucks.)

4. The speedo always "ticked" and would wobble 5-10 mph. So your speed was always a "best guess."

5. The car was in general a magnet for scratches, dents, etc.

6. The trunk popped open on the freeway once or twice (at least that's the number that I knew of, it might have been more but my dad never said. Also, keep in mind, this is a car before remote trunk release)

That's about all I can remember off the top of my head, but I know there was some other stuff. I'll edit if I can remember the other highlights.

Before I continue I want to stress that a) theres very good justification for why I was driving without snow tires so I'd prefer not to hear what kind of idiot you think I am. And b) If you live in an area that gets snow in the winter DONT MESS AROUND get snow tires. Its not only your 30k sports car thats in jeopardy but possibly your life and the lives of other drivers on the road.

This all happened in my 8. 1 and 2 were within 3 weeks of when I purchased my car.
1- Slid off the road in a snow storm at 10 mph breaking both drivers side wheels. The DSC went insane and I couldn't turn it off. So not only was I fighting the lack of traction but also the DSC that thought it knew better as well.
2- 2 days out of the shop another sudden storm hits while im on the road. in barely a 1/4" dusting of snow I slide off again this time hitting a telephone pole at about 5 mph. Thankfully there was only cosmetic damage.
3- some random piece of flying metal on the freeway decided it wanted to land on the top of my car putting a nice gouge in the paint.

Thumbs down POS 2002 Volkswagen Passat W8 sedan

Well you didn't say whether it was road hazzard or warranty issues so here is my problem child! It is a repost of my post to a thread concerning lemon law advice to another club member.

The following resulted in two arbitration hearings with the BBB one was held and the second one was terminated due to a settlement with Volkswagen of America.

In a nutshell, they (VWoA) refunded me all payments and down payment (but not taxes tags or other fees, just purchase price) then deducted a milage fee based on mileage. I got back $11,000.00 minus about $4600 for the mileage, netted me about $6600 back. It took two BBB arbitration hearings but they settled before the second one could take place. The following is a copy of a post I made to an earlier thread outlining my trials and tribulations with VWoA in Virginia.

Well my car before the 8 was a 2002 VW Passat W8. Top of the line VW at the time (pre Phaeton). Well After two trips to BBB arbitration they repurchased the car. Oh happy happy joy joy! In the 13 months I "owned" it it was in the shop about 14 times for about 30 some odd job orders and was out of service 60 days!

Other than a nasty door ding two days before handing over the keys the following is a list of the individual problems I had. Most were directly attributed to inept service techs. At the bottom are some links to some of my posts on the VW forums. Fun reading I tell ya!

1. No Tail lights. Ordered light switch
2. Replaced light switch
3. Buffed out paint because of scratches on it at time of delivery
4. Cruise Control inoperative, *CNDF
5. Stereo speaker sound quality sucks, CNDF
6. Rattle coming from r/h front of car, CNDF
7. Cruise Control Inoperative, Tech could not duplicate but I showed service manager that it indeed was not working. See below!
8. Cruise Control Inoperative, Replaced Control Unit
9. Blinking CEL/MIL light (1) and car running rough, Replaced #4 coil pack
10. CEL/MIL light (2) is on, Evap leak, tightened gas cap
11. Radio looses memory, Radio normaly comes on when I turn on the car. On two occasions the stereo was off. When I turned the radio on all the station memories were blanked out. CNDF
12. MFA indicates hood open, ordered micro switch
13. MFA indicated hood open, replaced latch
14. CEL/MIL light (3) on again, small evaporative leak, replaced gas cap
15. MFA indicates hood open, Hood out of adjustment and alarm indicator is still on, ordered comfort control module
16. Installed control module, MFA still indicates hood open, ordered new stereo head unit
17. CEL/MIL light (4) on again, evap leak, ordered leak det. pump.
18. Streaking wiper blades causing automatic wipers to operate erratically, Installed new wiper blades.
19. CEL/MIL light (5) on again, cleared codes and Installed leak det. pump.
20. Installed new stereo head unit
21. Smelled smoke coming from left front blinker socket. Bulb and socket scorched, arced and melted. Ordered new socket and replaced bulb.
22. Control panel for home link fell off and will not stay on. Ordered new visor.
23. Right front grill came of while driving and was run over. Ordered new grill.
24. Replaced left front blinker bulb socket.
25. Replaced visor
26. Replaced grill
27. Left rear brake caliper is rattling on sliders. Sliders loose, ordered new caliper bracket with sliders.
28. Cruise control is not working. CNDF
29. Perform 4-wheel alignment, Dealer service could not do alignment because shop lacks proper equipment. Taken to Sears for alignment. This one was on me due to the installation of the H&R sport springs and new wider wheels!

*CNDF Could Not Duplicate Fault

Check out these threads on the VW forums about my issues with this POS

1999 Jeep Wrangler Sport
- Airbag Light came on several times, (once every four months or so)
- Key would randomly get stuck in the ignition
- Speedometer & Guages would randomly STOP working while in operation
- Every three months, the A/C Condensation tube would get clogged with....something...and would force the water out into the floorboard of the front passenger seat/foot well

And those are the major problems....the minor problems are too numerous to list, but everything from the convertable top fading within a month of ownership (along with windows beginning to yellow) to a transmission that made audible clunks when changing gears (and being assured that it was normal - sounded like when it shifted, that the whole slushbox fell out onto the road behind me)

GG Jeep - makers of the most overhyped POS's on the road today!

2000 EBP Civic Si.

-Within first week of owning it, it is stolen right in front of my house.
-I install Lo-Jack after recovery, stolen again after a month, recovered by lo-jack in 30 minutes.
- I install a 2-way pager alarm so I can know when someone is messing with it.
-2 months pass with out a problem, alarm goes off someone is trying to steal it again.
-Parked in front of street, someone leans on the rear quarter panel denting it badly.
-Parked in Safeway parking lot some big *** truck backed up into the hood and headlight crunching it.
-Parked at the mall someone asshat keys my driver side door.
-I install a Vortech supercharger and I have the CEL light constalnty on.
-Car gets stolen AGAIN, ripped up my seats stole my stock stereo, busted the ignition etc..
-I get it back from repairs stolen again stole my new detachable face stereo with no face.
-A month later there is a police chase down my street cop car hits my car, they never paid.
-Car sitting where I parked it but with the hood open, my alarm didn't go off, (WTF).
-My front right brake caliper falls off braking the disc brake and the rim, I am guessing from the abuse when the car got stolen broke it.
-Some ricer monkey steals my 5Zigen muffler, that is when I traded the car in that just tore it.
ALL THIS WONDERFULNESS WITH ONE YEAR OF OWNERSHIP.

First time car got stolen.

Cops looking at my car.

The damage crooked wheel and damaged rear quater and more.

And this is when they stole my muffler.

An other angle.

1989 Jeep Cherokee.

-About 20 different rattles comming from inside car.
-Brakes were brand new and sometimes i would have to push the brakes in so far to get the car to stop, that the pedal wouldnt go anymore,it would be hitting the metal behind the pedal.
-Antifreeze container cracked in half, causing hot antifreeze to spill all over engine bay,and on top of some o2 sensors causing the car to backfire, stall, and not want to start at all
-If you tried closing more than 1 window on the car...they would take about 3 min to close.
-If you opened the driver side window all the way,it would get stuck and wouldnt come back up.To get it back up we have to remove all the weather strips and rubber housing to get our fingers down there to pull it up
-In winter windows would not open if it was cold outside
-When started cold, engine would start on 1st crank, after 10 seconds rpm's would drop and it would shut off. After restarting it would be fine
-Truck got hit by shopping carts, footballs, all types of objects,so there is a fair amount of scratches/dents on it
-Backed into a pole,so on the back bumper there is a huge dent with rust around it.
-The horn which said "Jeep" on it,would break off in my hand
-Horn sometimes goes off after hitting a bump
-Tailights bulbs replaced
-Seatbelts didnt work,just hung there
-Had some cool extra lights on the back bumber and front bumber. The ones on the back bumper were stolen, and the ones on the front bumper were turned upward,i was wondering everytime i turned them on why it was lighting up trees and the sky.
-If it is raining bad, water comes in threw the side of the windows.
Everytime i step on the gas,a big thump is heard from the transmission.
-Sometimes if applying the brakes gently, one rear tire would lock up causing some major tire squeeling.
-AC was broken but had it replaced.
-Heat comes out of 1 center vent only, making me hate winters.
-Doors squeel when opening, and they dont stay open,
-The door pannel with the window functions on it is ripping off of the door.
-Rear view mirror moves with any bumps,so you have to keep adjusting it as u drive.
-No ABS or Airbags or Seatbelts.
-Permanant dirt stuck on gold rims.
-Engine is very loud and makes 2,000 different noises.
-Going up hills the gas needle moves up,going down hills is goes on E,No light or noise to let you know your on empty.
-Cat makes crazy choking sound at idle.
-Crack in windshield, looks like a bullet hit it.
-Best problem of all.......we still have it

Funny thing is, most of those are known issues with the Wrangler:

- The speedometer & gauges is due to a corroded connector between the gauge cluster and the dash

- The A/C tube gets clogged because it leads straight into the engine compartment and needs to have a 90 degree tube added to the end

- Convertible tops do fade and plastic windows yellow, it's inevitable

- The Wrangler transmission does clunk, it's normal, it sounds louder due to the lack of any kind of sound insulation on the vehicle.

Not to defend Jeep, but having owned one myself none of your issues even raise an eyebrow to me...

Well Synergy, the only vandalism I've had was someone shot at me while driving (3) years ago. Busted my driver's side window. I wasn't hit, thankfully. NICE.

Not a winner, but still fun...

My wife's Civic:

screwdriver gouges in the hood
keyed
door dings
After an oil change, there was no oil in the Engine
1 gallon of house paint sprayed on the car at highway speed on the freeway (red paint on a green car)
Another oil change without putting oil back in
Spilled milk on the seat, still have the protein stain
Window seals leak, have to remove EVERYTHING before washing the car
Cracked windshield
Amp blown on the radio, volume button only makes a difference from 0-5 (out of 10)

I used to own a 1991 Caddy De'ville, and all this happened in the span of 2 months, granted it had been sitting outside for about 6 years :D

- The first thing I had to do was remove the bird nest that was in the engine bay
- Had to replace the battery of course
- Had to replace the front struts
- The driver side window fell into the door
- The windshield wipers stopped working, so in a sudden rainstorm, I had to pull an Ace Ventura out of the broken window to see where I was going.
- The A/C clutch fell out onto my friend's driveway (in the middle of the summer in Houston)
- The cloth roof started caving in so I couldn't see out the back window, I eventually staple gunned it back up
- Pretty much all the speakers were blown
- The rear doors wouldn't open from the inside
- The leather seats were ripped to hell
- And the dead body started to smell in the trunk...

Well, given that at the same time I bought a Nissan XTerra that has had to be in the shop for a grand total of 2 things (one of them a recall) since we've owned it, it does not make a great showing for Jeep. Even a VW Cabrio my wife and I owned had a lot fewer problems than the Jeep. It was a steaming POS...

My first car back in 1999...

1981 Mazda RX-7:

-Bought it off my grandpa with ~160000 miles on it and in good condition (my dad bought it new in 1981, I rode around as a newborn in the back of it where my parents bolted on a child seat in the hatchback area. Kept it in the family, and you could say that rotary is in my blood, yes).

-Clutch burned out within its second month, had new racing clutch put in...$900

-My only accident ever, avoiding getting t-boned in an intersection I hit the curb at 40mph (i smashed the gas to avoid getting hit as i was turning left, and spun out in the rain into the nearby curb). This managed to dismount my rear drive line and break an axle, although i could still drive the car, lol. The body of the car itself was unharmed, but it looked like a hotwheels with the tire sticking out 6inches on one side. Also I lost two aluminum rims to that damn curb. I bought another RX-7 for parts, it was cheaper than new parts.

-Went through 5 alternators before I got smart and also replaced the voltage regulator.

-Replaced fuel pump after it went out, interesting how a rotary runs with low fuel.

-Exhuast manifold rumbled loose, ah the sound of an unmuffled rotary turns heads like the blood curdling scream of those flying ring wraiths in lord of the rings.

-Rear taillight assembly was vandalized, $200 a peice for the 3 pieces across the back of the car...

-One foglight was ripped off by a hungry stray dog...or something...

-Headlight and windshield cracked by rocks kicked up into my car by a new police tahoe that failed to have mudflaps put on, good excuse to call the po-po and let them have an ear full.

-Got rear ended at a stoplight, just a lowspeed bump that scuffed the paint, so I swapped bumbers from my parted RX-7, they are the same color.

-For now it sits there until I get a new starter and vaccuum relay. I've bought another RX-7 so that makes three!

I still love that car...

My RX-8...
- Flat bedded twice for flooding in cold weather
- car undriveable once the snow hit, until i switched to my winter tires, flat ground and I couldn't drive more than 2 inches.
- Bird Strike took out right fog lite housing
- Car would start dieing, cause, 120A fuse blew, but was close enough to start up, when it would heat up the pieces would seperate cause all kindsa weird problems. taken to the dealership 3 times until he listened to me (i already had it troubleshot down) and changed it out
- Grinding from 1 to 2, and 3 to 4; tightened loosened bolts on fly wheel.
- Grinding from 1 to 2; still not fixed, self fix steel braided clutch cable on the way
- knocked front alignment out driving from AK through Canada. Traction Control fought me the whole way, ended up wearing back tires down to slicks in about 1000 miles, tires only had 4000 to start with. Didn't quite make it to Edmonton (next Mazda dealer), had to have it flatbedded again. Thank god I was already in contact with Canzoomer, and dear Michelle put my up for my few day stay there. Too bad the money for the CZ Unit had to go to new tires, still a bit bitter about that.
- Fog Lites are now inop
- My gas mileage still sucks
- My new local dealer blow big donkey d&*k, they're horrible to deal with.
That's all I can think of!

My 1994 2-door Blazer:

- 1st week of school at LA Tech and some punk shot out the back glass with an air rifle
- rear-ended on highway, bent bumper up so couldn't drop the rear gate without this awful earsplitting screech. (Gave the dude and his friend a ride home to Ruston cuz the driver was in one of my classes. He still owes me a fifth.)
- tire blowout on same highway, damaged tire rim and lost the ring that goes around the tire
- rear side panel hit leaving a large dent, also bumper damage
- bad oil leak no one could find led to the engine locking up on this dark unlit Texan road in the middle of nowhere, about 20 miles south of Shreveport in 20 degree weather.
- engine rebuilt after 10 months (my dad's friend supposedly is a perfectionist)
- rebuilt engine is larger and gas mileage drops horribly.
- rebuilt engine starts to make noises after having it back for only 2 months. My dad's friend comes to haul it back home and fix it.
- My poor Blazer's lost among the dude's shop for a year and a half. My dad finally just gave up and sold him my ride.

I drove my sister's '97 4-door Cavalier during all that and while I had it:

- sideswiped a freakin deer and it dented the rear passenger door and took off the right side mirror (It lived.)
- boyfriend drove in Shreveport construction and sideswiped an orange barrel trying to pass a car in a norrowing lane ripping off the driver's side mirror one week after replacing the other one.
