Yeah that's a weird one. It's a 15000$ car with no power. Odd...

"The Subaru Impreza WRX, the Mitsubishi Lancer, the Acura RSX, the Nissan Sentra SE-R -- these vehicles have the highest rates of collision," says Rader. "And age is a part of it. It's how these vehicles are driven."

It's all statistics driven. How often and how expense is a particular model's damage. How 'popular' is its theft (in whole or for parts), etc, etc. Be thankful we have a rare, but not That rare, vehicle generally driven by more capable people - due in large measure to the perception that the rotary requires inordinate and savvy maintenance.

Even though these charts are for 2004-2006 models, I guess that kind of explains why my '95 Eclipse was more to insure than my '05 RX-8.

It all depends..... A couple years ago..I saw a list created by 10 major insurance companies and S2000 and 350z were in second and third places. So who knew...

Insurance is not based on replacement value of the vehicle, rather is based on the perceived risk that vehicle and driver poses on the road to other drivers.

The cost of replacing the owners vehicle is nothing compared to the cost of settling a lawsuit that the owners vehicle has caused.

It also has a lot to do with likelyhood of injury, hence the 2 star Forenza's place on the list...
