The 13C Series in the Demio (or Mazda 2) uses the all new 1.3 litre Skyactiv Engines/Trans.
WHY o WHY are we not seeing these in the US and Australia, OK we lose 200 cc BUT, in return you get the sweet 1.3 SA engine (way better than the old crude 1.5), and economy of 48.5 MPG.!!
Agree, and IMO that is what sets the Mazda 2 apart from all the other minis, it's retro looking dashboard with a simple speedo cluster, shifter as part of console and dash which gives a spacious interior front...it is simple, but has almost everything other 'top' brands have.
Enlightenment is man’s leaving his self-caused immaturity. Immaturity is the incapacity to use one's intelligence without the guidance of another. Such immaturity is self-caused if it is not caused by lack of intelligence, but by lack of determination and courage to use one's intelligence without being guided by another. Sapere Aude! - Immanuel Kant
Some highway toll systems in the US do that.
When you get to your final destination, and either use your EZ-Pass to pay the toll, or you hand over your toll ticket, if they calculate that you did the highway span in less than a certain amount of time, you earn a nice additional fee for speeding.
Are we getting this upgrade at some point for the 2 here in the US? It is outgunned and out-MPGed here in its segment here. Zoom zoom handling can only take you so far.

While I agree that making the 2 even better is a great goal, I am not sure where you get the information? Agreed, it's the lowest power in the segment, but due to it's weight advantage, it's not the slowest: http://media.caranddriver.com/files/...azda-2-ego.pdf
It's only a hair behind the Fit in acceleration and the mileage is only 1mpg highway off of the lead, with the best city MPG.
And with a price that is FAR below the competition, those aren't points to complain about?
