The Mazda 2 based Scion iA ranks as Car and Driver best subcompact

Just thought I would bring this topic back to the front for a little bit of discussion.
US Sales on Scion IA since introduction:
Sep-15 2035 Oct-15 1977 Nov-15 1785 Dec-15 1808 Jan-16 1840 Feb-16 2305 Mar-16 3264 Apr-16 3023 May-16 3056 Jun-16 2939 Total 24032
In comparison, Mazda CX-3 sales:
Aug-15 698 Sep-15 1340 Oct-15 1382 Nov-15 1323 Dec-15 1663 Jan-16 1375 Feb-16 1793 Mar-16 1748 Apr-16 1504 May-16 1570 Jun-16 1512 Total 15908
The Scion iA is destroying the CX-3 in sales, yet supposedly, every journalist keeps telling us that consumers only want to buy small SUV's in the US market.
Man, what do you think would happen if you put the Corolla name plate on the Mazda 3, or the Camry nameplate on the Mazda 6?
I'm interested in seeing what happens with the Fiat 124 once the dealers actually have some in stock to sell to customers.
BC.

agree with your "destroying" term for it but i also thunk that it's really not bad considering the size of the two companies number of dealers etc. the numbers arent really far off at all until March of this year when the Scion goes on a tear, doubling the Mazda number each month. I wonder if Toyota went incentive crazy at that time?
