sounds like a good idea if it works my only question is would it be practical on a cost standpoint, something that the article seemed to leave out.

The plugs we use make one of the rarest elements in the earths crust a consumable item. So, there may be some way to compete on cost.

OTOH, in these types of articles, researchers tend to hype their work because they are looking for funding.

the thing that bothers me about this idea is that lasers need a lens - and what happens to that when the usual combustion chamber gunk gets caked all over it.....
