Insurance with Geico?
Ok, so my fiance just had her accident drop from her record so I decided to get some new quotes to see if I could get insurance cheaper. I wanted to make sure all my mods would be covered in the event of an accident so I told Geico everything I had on my RX-8( full MS kit, Volks, BHR ignition, Borla exhaust and an AEM CAI). The salesman I talked to gave me my quote and wanted me to purchase a policy on the spot but I wanted to get some additional quotes so I didn't buy.
After a few more calls with more information from the other providers about aftermarket parts I decided to call Geico back and ask a few more questions. I was promptly told that Geico would not insure my 8 because of the intake but they would still insure all the other cars on my current policy. Apparently it's in their guidelines to to insure cars with "engine modifications".
So after talking to several other salespeople and a supervisor I kind of got the impression that in the event of an accident, if insured with Geico, that if you had "engine modifications" they would do everything in their power to not pay out for anything in excess of the book value of the car.
Anyone insured with Geico that has any mods or had to deal with a claim? Better yet, anyone here work for an insurance company? I personally would never insure anything with Geico after the conversations I've had with them today.
