Highlander idles too high

Highlander idles too high
Hey Guys,
My wifes 2001 highlander is idling a little over 2000 rpm when the gear selector is in park as soon as she puts it in drive or reverse it goes down to normal levels. What could be the cause of this? I appreciate any response.
