Delivery should stop in March, they say. But don't you worry, a replacement is currently being developped right now here in Europe. It''s a larger displacement version of the 3.6 litre V8 powering Land Rover vehicles.
If Ford sues one of its suppliers, it means they supplied real SHIT I should think.
I heard that Ford just bought diesel engine manufacture Cummins and Allison Transmission. So they shouldn't have a problem finding a replacement that's better

Well that would be interesting. That would mean Ford would own the builder of Dodge diesels and GM heavy duty transmissions. So theoretically they'd have the other two of the big three in HD trucks by the *****.
GM was thinking about selling off Allison back in January but they did not. GM still owns it.
Ford owns a stake in Cummins but not sure if it's a controlling stake or not.

Ahhh hardly, the engine that is being developed in Europe is the 4.4 Liter that will go in the F-150 and not the Super Duty. It is very simple, Ford thinks that it can try and put all its' suppliers into bankruptcy. Well it's time it got a taste of its' own medicine....
It seems outside of the US, the people running the operation actually build decent vehicles.
I agree. I may never understand why a struggling auto manufacturer refuses to bring their best selling vehicles to their biggest market. It's poo-poo economics and it makes American big business look amateurish.

So you don't feel Navistar should pay Ford the warranty share money they agreed to? That is what the law suit is about, Navistar hasn't paid Ford any warranty cost share from the 6.0L fiasco.....that is why Ford stopped paying for engines. Navistar owes Ford a lot of money and right now Ford needs it.

I agree that International should pay their share of the warranty when it applies. In this case Ford is just as responsible for the warranty as is International. Ford tried to take over the design of the 6.0 L and you see the end result - a product that is pretty much in line with their automotive prowess. International does not owe Ford anything in terms of money because Ford wanted the lowest cost on every component just like they bleed dry every other component supplier. It is about time Ford gets a taste of its' own medicine.

The one I'm talking about is a 5.5l, I think, and it will also power the E-series van.

Hmmm, I know that Ford was going to use the International engine in the E-series van but that program got delayed or even canceled. Maybe Ford has decided to use a 5.5 L engine from somewhere in the E-series. I think Ford should just give up on that crappy E-series van and bring the Transit over to North America.
