Does a/c hose size matter?

I'm doing ac lines out of braided stainless lines. I prefer to use as small line as possible.. I did an engine swap, so that's the reason behind thing these lines. Do I have to match the I.d. of stock lines? Or can I use something about half in diameter compared to stock?

u need to know if the stainless lines u are using will be able to handle the pressure. i don't remember exact but the high line will see 200-300psi of pressure.

yea lines are aeroquip a/c lines. I know lines will be good... problem is, I can only fit AN-6 size lines in my car which is about half of the stock hose diameter... I'm curious whether "flow" of the refrigerant matters in the system.. this is for the low side.

Size of ID will effect pressure, so I would say yes, the ID needs to be the same.

You need to be able to measure and regulate it.

Different size ID will have a different pressure number.

When you sell the car, and some one hurts themselves because it blows up you could be sued.

just out of curiosity, how would it affect pressure? i thought it would be a flow problem. I will be filling refrigerant to a goal pressure, not volume. and i won't be selling this car for a decade

smaller id = faster flow but also more pressure.

When it flow faster it will put more pressure on the seals.

I would go to DIY section for the AC wrap and click on the member who worked in air conditioning.

Then ask them if the difference is enough to cause a problem
