Hyundai has been moving up that list for the past few years, i'm impressed. Never thought they had it in 'em.

I'd prefer to see a report on individual vehicles, but that is nice too see and gives me some hope as an 04 Subaru owner. Time will tell if the STI can hold up, and not give me problems. So far so good.

Oh how the mighty have fallen. Mercedes, once the benchmark and envy of the motoring world for quality, has ranked very poorly in recent years. Their down turn started back in mid '90's with the introduction of the M class.

They already did that an issue or two ago and every single Subaru vehicle was a recommended purchase from Consumer Reports.

The WRX also won the "Fun to Drive" Category (One of Consumer Reports' Top 10 Picks)

Well every single Subaru is not a recommended purchase from ME. If you're a consumer totally focused on the Subarus, you got a head problem. Just telling it like it is.

And remember, don't back up into parking spaces.

From what I understand what is hurting alot of the German companies is the technology like Idrive, etc is not very reliable and hard to fix at the local dealer who may not be sophisticated enough to figure out such issues.

I saw something where they rated the Subaru WRX and STI the fun car to drive and great value, but I didn't see them single out the STI being one of the top Subarus specifically in reliability. I'd have to say the STI is the weakest link on the chain for Subaru, but still may be solid so far. Please prove me wrong. All I see is them adding STi to the lineup without really knowing anything about car. I don't like the fact that they state all of them. That just doesn't hold very much water with me. Thanks!!

It was posted by some subscribers on the Subaru boards so I haven't seen it and there is no way to link it since you have to be a subscriber, I guess it wasn't every Subaru model that ended up in the recommended category, the Baja for some reason didn't make it.

My mom's 2001 Outback has been a nightmare, and she wants out of Subaru. I see them harping on VW as being the least reliable, yet I have seen it to be the best.
The only vehicle from VW that is made by Germany is Golf (GTI), I believe. I have several friends who have Beetles and Passat (sp?) and Jetta. They all will agree with the terrible quality of VWs. I almost bought Audi, but I re-thought about that due to their affiliation with VW. Just my 2 cents.

Did I say anything about Golf or GTI? No. Can Golf or GTI can wholly represent the quality of VW's vehicles? No, I don't think so. As I stated previously, I saw and/or heard the bad qualities of VWs in my friends' (2 beetles, 3 jettas and 1 passat). I have not seen anyone around me, who was satisfied by his/her VW.
Is my opinion/thought regarding VW too much generalized by small samples? Maybe.
Am I brave enough to take a risk by choosing VW, based on the stories AROUND ME?
NO.
I am not discouraging your opinion regarding VW. You might have good experience with VW. I merely express my thought/opinion regarding VW as a whole. As you said before, I do get better odds by not choosing VW.
