Half doors?
I'd say they're stealing Alfa Romeos doorhandle integrated in the C-pilar.
The Civic-doors looks like they opens teh "normal" way..

You're right I didn't even notice that...you know the FD had that also though, so they're all copying Mazda anyways.

That Civic is kind of like the new Mazda 5. Is that the new Civic sedan or will the Civic sedan be different?

NO copying here. If that's the case, then Mazda copied the Saturn.

There are tons of cars from the 60's and 70's that had them and cars from the early 20th century too.

I don't think that this particular Civic has the "free style" doors. If you look closely, you will notice the little door handle in the rear corner where the glass ends. Also to be a freestyle doors those are really close to the rear fender. IMO not much structural reinforcement. .. Problably I am wrong; maybe just a teaser from Honda.

Is it just me or does the area between those doors look really narrow??
That front door is so long. that's probably why.

I suspect the Jag is based to some extent on the RX-8 platform. Same parent company and all that. Gotta love the hatchback, though. Wish we had that.

And the FD doors copied the NSX, so in reality, Mazda copied Honda

Maybe.
The Jag's got a 2,7 litre diesel V6 from the S-type,pumping out 230 hp.
Here you can see some more pictures this car end other future Jags..

Mazda only shares Mazda3 and Mazda6 platforms with Ford, the Miata and RX-8 are not shared.

I've always thought that Jaguar is a related car to the RX-8. Although the 8's platform is not shared with any other cars (other than than the new miata), I'd be willing to wager money that the Jag there has used the same platform or a modified platform from the 8. It is only a concept car.
