Exclamation Chris Bangle quits BMW/ Auto Industry!

http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/03/b...auto-industry/

According to a brief statement released by the automaker, the 52-year-old Bangle has left to "...pursue his own design-related endeavors beyond the auto industry." From the sound of things, the breakup would appear to be an amicable one, as he will "maintain strong ties to the BMW Group."

WOW thats the end of an era for BMW say what you want but imho he ended up designing some nice cars.

Maybe somewhere for Franz to go since Tesla is sucking so badly?

even though I'm partial to Mercedes, I will admit that BMW had some GREAT looking cars. Wonder if they knew well in advance or if this came rather abrutply?

Love it or hate it, almost every new car has some bangle influence.

I love the BMW's, hate Merc. To me Merc has always been an old guy car while BMW's have always had a more sporty look. I love how they currently look and its sad to see Bangle go for me. I hope they dont make them ugly now.

dang, just saw this, that sucks Bangle gave the beemer's some much needed flair and style, before they were soooooooooooooooooooooo bland looking, he introduced curves and wheel arches etc, even if some folks hated some of his designs, I was happy to see bmw's on the road that were actually more exciting to look at than Volvo's for a change. Sucks to see him go, curious to see where things go from there.

Bangle and his flamed surfacing...you either love it or hate it. It pushed alot of people's buttons for sure.

Salute to the "Bangle Butt".

The Bangle Butt is dead!

It's all subjective, but IMO, he absolutely trashed any aesthetic value BMW once held in terms of exterior styling.

The 05 Z4, the 06 era 7 series and 5 series, the 650i - ugh. Hideous asses on those cars. Hideous, hideous.

I've never seen a more incongruous rear end and deck lid than on the 2006 7 Series - it's a thing of utter hideousness.

Bangle ruined a whole generation of BMW exteriors. Good riddance.

The only car to this day that looks weird with the Bangle styling is the new 6. The car looks like a Bass fish on the road. The 1,3,M3,5,M5,7,Z4/coupe series are all exceptional looking.
