BOTH 2014 Mazda3 and 2014 Mazda6 named to Car and Drivers Ten Best Cars list for 2014. A great achievement for a small Japanese carmaker.

2014 10Best Cars - 10Best Cars - Page 6 - Car and Driver

Also 2014 Mazda3 was runnerup to new Corvette Stingray for North American Car of the Year, only losing by scant 25 points.

What does this have to do with the RX-8?

If these cars do well buddy, then maybe Mazda will rethink their commitment to another rotary engine car. It is all connected to the overall health of Mazda going forward. Don't you see that. If they never make another rotary and end all rotary development then sooner or later there will be no further support or parts available.

I have owned 10 Mazdas, including seven rotary Mazdas and many times in the past the financial fortunes of Mazda determined whether or not they came out with the next rotary. So lets all celebrate any good Mazda news.

9k was referring to creating this thread in "RX-8 Media", which is inappropriate. I have since moved it to 'General Automotive', where it fits.

Fine no problem, but I still think it does relate to the RX8. The RX8 media thread is getting pretty lonely these days.

It's going to remain that way, except for magazine build articles. The forum is here for archival purposes these days.

In the article they say the MX5 remains loved as a 10best, they just had to make room for its siblings who have the ground breaking impact for 2014 that the MX5 had when it was introduced. I guess they couldnt have three of the ten best from the same manufacturer

Well, if you look at the 10 worst used cars list, Mazda managed to get 3 in that one.

That's what we call 'progress', since the 2 of the 3 in the 10 worst are 15 years old, the 3rd is also obsolete and was a Ford car anyway.

Yes it is progress and we wish Mazda3 and Mazda6 and CX5 sales do very well so Mazda continues their new profitability. Then maybe they will rethink their CEOs position on another rotary car.
