370z SynchroRev Match

On the 370z website they talk about the new feature on the 6 speed tranny. Supposibly the tranny will automatically rev match on your downshifts. So if you are say crusing in 6th gear at 50mph and downshift to 3rd and hammer it the tranny will "automatically" rev match for you. Do any other vehicals have this? If so does it actually work?

It has it, and it works. Don't know of any other manual trans with it.

Interesting. It looks like it has a clutch position and shifter position sensor and blips the throttle for you when you downshift. That's actually pretty cool.

It's funny, I read about this and thought about how simple of an idea it was. I can't believe this isn't common place. I don't know how much I'll like it, I'd probably turn it off, but the idea is great.

Nissan brought one by our office last Thurs, got to go over it for about an hour and take it for a short drive. We will have one for three days next week.

A quick test of the 370Z S-drive.... Keep in mind we only had the car for a short time, so our test was rather tame due to being on a public street.

Why take the fun out driving a sports car? Learning to drive the right way is a great feeling.

The idea, as we were told, was to extend the life of the trans. The average person on the street may not bother to rev match, and not doing this can shorten the life of internal trans parts over time.

For those that think they can do better, there is a switch to turn it off.

Not to mention you'll be faster around the track since you only have to concentrate on braking and turning and not worry about blipping the throttle or unsettling the car just before you turn in.

But then, it's an 'automatic' technically.

it's still a 3 pedal manual transmission, except that now when you downshift, the car blips the throttle perfectly for you to shift into the next gear, even if you skip a gear or 2!

+1 Yup! why need a electronic thingy to do it for you, if you can do it your self. plus its super fun heel toeing from a high gear, going one by one down shifting taking a super curvy turn.

Well if you have big feet and legs i understand.

how long does it take for the car to respond so you can slide it in gear?

is it seemless or is there a moments hesitation?

Cool! But don't want one.
I like to blip the throttle myself.

I'm unsure... some of you have your preset opinions, but I'd have to drive it myself to know how I feel about it.... At the very least it'll be interesting, even if I prefer to do it myself. I'll end up test driving one sometime...

edit: did anyone notice there are a LOT of z ads on the site recently... Almost every other page has one for me...
