300HP Hyundai RWD Coupe
300 HP Hyundai RWD Coupe.
Appears to be coming out in 2009. If they bring that out, nobody will laugh at a Hyundai pulling up.
Oh, if they throw the hot chick in with it, I'm sold.

This car is featured in Car And Driver this month(along with the Mazda Taiki), which I just happen to have right here in front of me. Its suppose to weigh around 3500lbs .6spd manual with a 6spd auto available also. 0-60 under 6secs.. $25k . Also brembo brakes(optional) . Car looks pretty good.

holyd crap! go hyundai.
my parents were going to get me a hyundai when i was in hs and i remember feeling restless that night thinking they're ACTUALLY going to get me a damn hyundai... ended up with a used crx hatch which i much preferred.
but this doesn't look bad at all!!
is it aluminum block? wonder what sort of power it'll put out once you turn up the boost.

the car will not have all the carbon fiber for production. no hood, roof, fake brake ducts. they say it in the video's this is the car how they think tuners will work on it and make it look. the future coupe will have the same design, including flares, and all light and body design. 25g to start for 300 hp. with brembo and lsd it will prolly reach 28g. and i will get one and happily own a car with a 10y 100k warranty.
oh and by the way, the 4cyl turbo that will have slightly over 200 hp is in fact a detuned 4b11, hyundai/mitsu world engine( aka evo x). it just isnt built with all the proper tuning and hardcore parts. it will prolly come out with 220-230 hp as the future lancer ralliart is coming with, its just a low boost 4b11t. they are hoping to get into the drifting market and become the new 240sx. what will be nice is seeing how much boost it can actually hold without upgrading internals. it may turn out to be like the mk4 gti, where the 1.8t modded much easier and faster then the 2.8 vr6, and costed less to begin with. i still like the sound of a v6 better though.

The car itself sounds cool, but if I'm gonna drive something weighing in at 3500 pounds, I'll buy a 1JZ-swapped Mark 3.5 Supra. Similar weight and distribution, but a helluva lot cooler, and much easier to tune.

Ya know, I was actually wondering about the [1.8t/VR6] analogy myself. Basic tuning of the v6 will of course be more expensive than basic tuning for the turbo 4. Mechanical tuning is more expensive than turbo tuning, it's simple fact. To make the V6 usable for higher power than the I4 could be tuned to, one would have to re-create it as a lower-compression engine.

yeah, i think i might get this car, but i will absolutely give it a year or 1.5 yrs before i decide on the engine. im sure that ripp motorsports will make a sc for the v6 model. but i really want to see how the 4 response to tuning. the nice thing about the v6 is its finally a longitudal mounted engine. yay rwd.

Looks nice, but i would wait before i would buy. So many new rides coming out by 2009/2010. If the new Tib will have 300HP and weigh right around 3500lbs, we can safely assume it will put out numbers that of a 350Z. Which isn't bad...but its not great either.

Thats a dam good looking car. I am all for additional RWD sport coupes, and i like the looks of this one. I sure hope the price isnt TOO low, or the streets will be flooded w/ these things by 2011. Will be interesting to see how these cars progress in mainstream as well as after market support. My guess is they will be huge in the tuner realm.

Hyundai's been stepping it up lately, especially after their new Sonata came out. On their ads the companies they been going after are BMW and Lexus, which is pretty ambitious as they're still considered more, "Toyota and Honda" in class.
