Nice move Saturn. Can't wait to see some performance/test numbers. 260hp turbo 4 should move it nicely. What's the weight on this car? Well under 3000?

the sky and solstice were always sighted to be around the mx-5 in terms of performance, and think that the redline and gxp models (respectively) are aimed at the mazdaspeed mx-5 audience.

that said, i like the sky better than the solstice in terms of styling. also, i think that it would be a fun little car to drive. who knows, if the sky/solstice had hit the market a year earlier than they did, there is a good chance i'd be driving one of those instead. but they didn't so i went with the 8, and have loved every minute of it :D

side note, i like this line about the tC series 2.0...
There’s also a standard subwoofer with 35 watts of power — almost as much as the speakers in our clock radios.
hehe...35 watts.

I want one. Screw the trunk space. I don't understand why that's such a big deal on a roadster.

I'd like to grab the execs at mazda by the short-hairs and MAKE them put the 274hp DFI 2.3 into the MS MX5.

I didn't know so many ppl liked the Saturn Sky. It's a great car looks even better in person. anyway here are some pics from the NY auto show of the Turbo Sky.
Mazda should be hard at work on the MS MX-5 by now

But i don't think that the MX-5 has a lot to worry about. MX-5 has already made a name for itself in the market. The Sky and Solstice have that challenge in front of them.

I think the Redline version is looking to steal S2000 customers......not MS MX5.

MS MX5 =178Hp
Sky/Solstice RL = 260hp

no comparison IMO.

The MS6 and MS3 have the same engine. The MS6 just has a little bigger turbo I believe.

I think they were talking about the new MS MX5, which will probably be getting some version of the 2.3T engine already found in the MS3 and MS6. GM knows that this car is going to come out in the near future, so they would have to be stupid to not take it into consideration when designing the Solstice GXP/Sky RL. I think that the MS MX5 and the GM roadsters are looking to steal S2000 customers, and it looks like they're doing a good job of that so far.

That's the old generation MS MX5. The new one will most certainly have more power.

Right, it's the MS6 engine detuned.

Well, since the Sky RL/Solstice GXP is hitting the market first, it will be Mazda that has to bring a newer more powerful MS MX5 to compete with the RL/GXP versions.

By the way, has Mazda ever mentioned using the Turbo 2.3 in the MX5 for a MS version? I have a feeling they will do what they did on the last version and just turbo the current engine. I have given up on Mazda being a leader in horse power output. The MS MX5 will most likely have 220hp max and get killed by the S2000 and Sky RL/Solstice GXP for years to come. Sack-up Mazda!!!

Here's Mazda's new advertising line (sampled from deordorant company):

"Made for a man, but (sadly) not strong enough for a lady"

Is it 'detuned' or 'smaller turbo'. I have heard both and wonder which is correct.....or are both?

Well, for me at least I look at the money I have...then check out the cars in my price range, what I need and really want, and make the best overall decision I can after extensive research.

Hence my RX8...

Anyway, I think the Solstice GXP and Sky Redline priced at 27-29K will effect the sales of pretty much all cars in it's price range, of course...more so for the drop top 2 seaters like the MX5, 350Z convrt, S2000, etc.

What these cars have going for them is looks, rwd, and decent performance at the entry level and now (while untested) very good performance (we can assume). The MX5...while it does have much better history, should stand up and pay attention because it does not (my opinion) look better and now does not perform better either. Heck...the S2000 also better pay attention...but I hear Honda is going to stop making it anyway.

What do you all think about the price, I'm a bit disapointed...25K (no bias here...lol) seems a better price point than high 20's. At this rate...what are they going to charge for the next Camaro....30-35K???? (Z28 model)

Exactly my point....I guess I'll have to explain my motivation. There is a double-meaning here.

The monkey's urination illustrates my jealousy toward Saturn and the Sky as it has much more torque than the miata and RX8. The animation conveys my intent to relay my hate upon them with my golden-showers

Also, I am jealous, in a longing/loving sort of way, because I think this car is a sexy little tart, and wouldn't mind having nasty monkey road sex with it, makes me wanna pull an R.Kelly in a loving sorta way.

That's a pretty good save.

No save, friend. I know I haven't been post whoring, so perhaps you are unfamiliar with my Ninjistic-post-ho-nu-jitsu. I'm like that artist painting that pretty little bush on a canvas, and behind those bushes is a skantily clad man that hits you with the pedophile stare. What does it all mean?............Exactly
