2006 Honda Civic SI Coupe !!! RX-8 In Trouble ?!!
Guys, check out the 90-95% accurate production concept 2006 Honda Civic SI coupe coming out this summer! The previous SI hatchback version could do 0-60 in 7.5 seconds. This new 200hp version that utilizes the RSX-type S engine would make this a new pocket rocket at under 20 grand, and could potentially do 0-60 in under 6.5 seconds. This would definitely give the RX-8 a good run at an amazing value.

these two cars are not even in the same realm. way different target markets. this should more likely be posted in the rsx or neon forums.
on a side note, i like this one. it looks like a scion tc/g35 hybrid.

Eh, sure it's looking like it's going to be a deal, but it's not going to make me envious. They're still driving an FWD car. I'll take a slower and nicer RWD car over that any day.

It looks sharp, but when has a concept/preproduction ever looked like the actual car on the lot? Anyway, everyone seems so focused on straightline performance, everytime I drive my rotory I am amazed at how fun it is to wind it up, I hope to never have to drive a conventional piston engine again.

actually it doesnt look horrible...but why would you want to drive one? FWD, come on now. Besides its Honda. Like mentioned before, two different groups the two items go for.

ooh i should be shaking in my boots that the car i drive becomes obsolete because honda came out with a new car. Who honestly would think their car would suck because a new one has a potential to do something better...just enjoy your car and stop worrying about other people and other cars. So you got dusted at a light, BFD,let me guess now you're gonna be depressed for months, seriously get over it...sorry i just hate hearing people complain about how since theres a better car out there they wasted their money or they feel obsolete. if you're happy with your carr why the hell do you have to worry aout other peoples cars. Same thing goes for significant others, if you love your girlfriend you're not going to think of her as obsolete as soon as some new hottie walks into the room.

ugly car, if your budget is under 20 grand and you want performance, even if it is a neon or whatever, the srt-4 is what you want. That or grab something used like a 'stang etc... I also totally agree with MazdaspeedFeras, who cares anyhow, just enjoy your 8 and to each his own or whatever.

You guys are missing the point. The point is that normally aspirated HP is going up, both from larger (6 and 8 cylinders) and smaller displacement (4 cylinders) engines. This is either good or bad news for Mazda and the rotary. With rising gas prices that will only continue into the future, the good news is that the rotary may finally be paired with an electric motor (hydrogen is not an option for the near future) and the bad news is that Mazda may elect to put an end to it.
