That didn't take very long to get people up in arms... lol. I don't have my 8 yet so the Z28 has to entertain me for now and so myself, my brother and my father headed over to Englishtown Raceway in NJ for SLP customer appreciation day. I had a really crappy reaction time (.560) and I didn't even try to launch the car for fear of looking like an idiot when I spun there for 3 seconds. For similar reasons, I didn't heat up the tires either. I wanted to get my feet wet first. It was definitely fun and I'll be doing it again, hopefully soon. It was a time trial and thank god because I got roasted by the guy next to me. He knew what he was doing and he was running NOs according to my brother who said he purged after he heated his tires. His r/t was .159 and he crossed the line at 12.101@ 113.51Mph.
On a side note, I was particularly disappointed to see the new GTO only doing high 14's to high 13's. I'm not sure why, as I many have verified that the engine does in fact put out a full 350hp and often more. Perhaps the independent rear? I know many people say the F-Bodies and Stangs make good dragsters because of the rear wheel drive. Anyway, it definitely cements my infatuation with the RX-8 and totally destroys my half yearning for the V8 in the GTO. Not only does it look like a Cavalier, but it's only marginally faster in the quarter mile. Besides, I'm not buying the RX-8 to drag race it (although I probably will). I'm more interested in the twisties anyway.
Hey... *COUGH* read above....

LOL... wait...
Ah, crap... that won't be funny when I get mine...
(Actually it will, b/c I'll still have the Z28 which by next year should have 485hp N/A alla GM performance LS-6 polished heads and race cams )
