You should consider a few things if you plan to do an engine swap.
1. Unknown drivability.
2. Future problems associated with an engine swap.
3. No warranty support from Mazda.
It is not just a simple engine swap; you will need a new tranny, fabricate new engine mounts, etc. etc. Be prepared to spend a lot of money and time in the shop.
At the end, with the potential headaches from the problems you might run into and the huge amount of money that you will need to spend, why not trade in your car for another car with 400 hp?

Find a shop that will build you a custom turbo. With a big enough turbo, sufficient fuel system and drivetrain upgrades, and proper tuning you shouldnt have a problem with making at least 400 rwhp. This will certainly be cheaper than swapping engines. A feasible engine swap would be a 3 rotor. Do a search on acosta racing, I think they did a 3 rotor swap into an rx8. But itll cost you a butt load of money. If you have the time and money I say go for the 3 rotor. You will make twice the 400hp mark if done right. Keep us posted on what you decide to do.

thanks a lot macius 8, you really helped me in taking a step forward. I found the acosta racing Rx8, its sweet. Your suggestion was very useful. I appreciate your help. Thank you

If $ is not your concern or your parents, put a 20B in it.

TRADE IN YOUR CAR.
It's pretty evident that you want a horsepower/torque monster to beat people at street lights. So why don't you just trade in your car and get a Dodge Charger or something? The 6.1 Liter, V8 model gets you 425 Horsepower with 420 lb/ft torque. It costs $38,095 MSRP.

if he's going to make the jump from $30k to $38k, might as well just either get a new vette for $44k, or get a used c5 for less. then he'd actually have a chance at beating his friend...since that's apparently the only measure of a car. of course he could always go with a sti or evo also. but meh, i'm bored with this topic.

I just suggested the charger since it has an impressive number he said he wanted over 400hp. I think it's silly too though.

drop a 26B 4 rotor in it...if your going for ultimate street machine I'd say this would just about do it. Never seen or heard of a FI 4 rotor so you could be the first :D

I really don't know what to say......................
Before to "wish" 400HP RX8 you need to have the money.
That is the first question. If you have it, go for it.
As Jedi 54 said,
This is not personal but I hate when people talk about they whant more HP..................
and don't try nothing to increase the HP on their RX8 or even don't have the money.
A lot of people whants big HP in a plug and play way..............
HP=$$$$$$
For example I already spend near $14K on my car and with that money
and the cost of the car (RX8 in Puerto Rico cost $40K) I can buyed other cars to have higher HP numbers that the ones that I'm making with the RX8.
But we really don't care how much money cost, here in Puerto Rico we do it for the love and passion that we feel for the rotary cars.
