Hi, I am new here...

thinking of changing my ride to a rx-8, but dunno anything about it except that it' a rotary engine 1.3L car.

couple of qns...
Is the FC good? (am currently driving a wrx nw, heard the FC is equally bad?)
Any legal Exos?
Is buying fr a PI a good idea? I was offered 96,488 for the 2008 edition in manual.
Is it an expensive car to upkeep?

Thanx

your post dont make much sense :O

you were offered 96,488 for the 2008 edition in manual? hopefully thats in pesos. wtf is PI? if you mean performance increase, from a WRX most definitely. the fuel economy sucks, if you are getting this car for improved gas mileage I suggest against it. rating is 18/22. if you do suggested maintenance and pick up the extended warranty, "up keep" is not expensive on this car. I have had no problems thus far on an 04, which is usually the problem child year (ECU issues, most reported engine failures, etc).

Hi there,

FC sux, most users report 6 - 8km/l
LTA approved catback Exos yes, a limited few to choose from.
Buy from PI? Do your homework first, look around and compare.
Maintenence not that bad unless things start breaking down.

Compared to your rex, you'll prolly only save on roadtax if u make the transition. You'll also realise that u want performance for value, your current car is better and cheaper.

Welcome bro!

I believe u're fr SG rite?

Frankly speaking FC sucks but having said tat... anyone intend to get or already own one will nt be bordered abt the FC actually as FC is nt the main attraction...

FC generally ranges between 6-8km/l but i do hear some bros achieve 3km/l & some achieve 10km/l... it all depends on mods & driving habits...

Legal exos in SG consist of Fujitsubo, Apexi, Knight Sports... Trust (Used to be but new batch pending) & Autoexec (Currently applying for LTA approval)

PI & MM brings in diff models... Thus cost is diff too... Do ask ard 1st b4 buying... Chk out our local forum to noe more... S$97K is ave cost...

Its rotary engine thus requires attention... every 5k need to change engine oil & oil filter... Mineral oil recommended... Other than tat, i heard tat engine mount & steering rack needs to change @ certain period... but mine a yr old still running gd...

Hope the above gives u sufficient info for further considerations...

Cheers!

Bro he's fr Singapore... so its S$96,488 nt pesos...

PI in SG means parallel importers...

Sorry, gal here.
I do service my current ride every 5k already, so the changing of engine oil part is not a prob for me.

I heard that the 1.3L rotary can actually churn out 3x the power? means it can actually churn out as much power as a 3.9L car? I dunno...

It looks good though, but having already sort of done a bit to my current ride, it takes quite a bit of convincing to change it. 1 of the only hesitations is I might regret due to the no-more-boost feeling...

Dilema.........

Most all race organizations classify the car, or any 1.3 L rotary engine, as being 2X. Or, like a 2.6 L piston engine.

Basically, since u r on a rex, petrol and maintenance should be quite similar. Also, you'd like to know that if u are a keen modder, rx8 parts (mods) are very expensive compared to most other japanese makes, so you'll end up spending quite a lot on mods.

The 8 could be likened to a 2.6L NA car with not much low end torque.

Don't expect to see gains on a NA rx8 as easily as on your charged rex when u mod. Since u say you like the boost feeling, my opinion is stick to your car or change to another TC/SC car

You might be disappointed with the 'performance' of the 8 unless u TC it. Then again, a proper TC unit from RE-Amemiya with tuning will cost u upwards of $10K.

End of the day, you choose between the sweet looks of the 8 or the value for money performance of your rex. Happy shopping

Hey Sis!

Sorry for mistaking u as a bro!

Well, gd to hear u're servicing ur ride regularly...

1.3L rotary is 2X of 2.5NA...

The 8 has a killer sportscar look & will always make head turns even its nt modded.

Nt sure how much u've done to ur ride, if u wan power & boost as wat bro Acoustic suggested TC ur ride... or if nt to the extreme then opt for intermediate mods like remapping ECU, adding sprint booster, changing exos...

Try to post ur qns in local rx8clubsingapore forum & more solutions be given...

Cheers!
