HKS Exhaust - Type S - Need your input!

Hi, Renesis8 and I were down at Garage R earlier, and we saw this fabulous HKS Exhaust for the RX-8. At this point, it is still not street legal in Singapore, although they have apparently installed 3 so far.

The gains are said to be substantial, and torque is much imrpoved. The noise level at idle is similar to stock, but is of course louder at high RPMs (although not overly loud). Looks wise, it looked very good, and the exhaust tips were huge and chrome-finished - very classy and fierce.

The price quoted was $1650 with installation.

Here's the interesting part. Garage R is looking into the possibility of getting it street legal for Singapore. But first, they have to get the paper work done in Japan. (Once this is done, they are confident, it will easily clear Singapore side.) In order for it to be worthwhile getting the paperwork done, Garage R esimated that we need to get minimum order 15 sets.

Note that this is for RX-8 Type S. The Type E will need separate certification.

Also, the time frame for the paper work will not be immediate as Garage R is currently working on getting the paper work done for 2 other models of cars. If we manage to get enough interest/commitments on Type S RX-8, they will consider rolling out the process for this model's Exhaust.

Here's a link to what it looks like:

So, here's a poll of Who's interested to order the Exhaust if it cn be legalized. Remember, this is for Type S only.

hi guyz,1st of all,tis is notin against lester,i do hope he can get the xhos approval...
personally,i've known lester since the bmx dayz & had patronized him for parts on mi rex.xhos was 1 of the items too.bk then, the authorities wasnt tat strict either.hence,i was runnin wif the 3' straight thro until the 'enforcement' cam in tight.
lester once reflect to mi tat he's tryin to get the xhos approval 4 both the GC & GD models(the GDs juz cam in2 our mkt).@ tat time,he had stock-up quite a # of xhos 4 tis 2 models.
but sadly,up til now,its still a story to b continue........
ST power recently gt their apexi N1 approval for evo7.& they din make tis quote until they gt the dealership 4 apexi.
im not tryin to promote ST here, juz mi 2 cents opinion.mayb guyz tat r interestd in the xhos, pay a deposit, wait 4 him to get it approved, then fit-it-up.u guyz wudnt wan to pay 4 the xhos & cudnt use it until he got it approved...wich i dun noe hw long is the wait.....s far s i noe,ST & Remus din get a list of 'interestd customers' to show to LTA on tis kinda tings.we r not writin a appeal letter rite?if the xhos is not environmental friendly, even 1/2 the population here r 'interestd' applicants,it'l still not b approved...agree?

do stress again, tis notin against him.i'm still his customer...

HKS is JASMA legal in Japan should be able to transfer the control to Singapore.

HKS is louder than anything else. Anything else meaning... Trust, Borla, Blitz and Fujitsubo (FGK)

I decided on FGK as I still want my exhaust handmade. I saw in a HK option fan magazine re FGK factory and they have instrument so sophisticated for QC. Very impressive.

I am sure HKS as a better name and may gain more. But if you are not into noise they give Fuji a go. They are same price btw.

AMUSE Ti Neo gain the most and less noiser than HKS. HKS gain 6kW but Amuse gain 13kW (or 13 ps at wheel) ... impressive. Ti only last 2-3 years though.

been using the legamax for 3 months now on my type S- more of a 'perceived' HP increase rather than actual, ie. it sounds nice at high revs but actual gains esp. on NA cars like ours are minimal.

did the installation at Garage R too. hmm...you may be able to neg. a little on that price there...
