Hi, i am not sure to get an RX-7 or RX-8?

I am thinking of the RX-7 Spirt R Tybe B or the brand new RX-8 250hp.

My 1st post thanks.

Could someone tell me the difference in handling? For i am very much use to the stability and handling of a 4wd and a FF car.

Thanks

personally if it were me i'd go with a spirit R hands down.

the FD has always been my dream car, and if i had the chance to get one i would right away.

but it all depends on what you're really looking for.

sporty - spirit R
conservative, yet still power - rx8

but i would suggest FD spirit R all the way man.

Not really....looking a rotary engine that is powerful and sporty and has back seats.....

I love rotary engines for it's uncanny ability and power...compared to an S4/dohc engine....

need more help.

Would you happen to know what is the top end speed of the rx-8?
I have no idea
Thanks

im sorry i don' tknow that answer.. you're going to have to ask someone else on the board or make a search for it.. sorry.

you want back seats too eh? well some rx7s do come in 2+2 form, but the back seats are usually too small and only big enough to fit small children..

if you're looking for somethign else i suggest going with the rx8 then.

damn, u have enough $$$ to import a FD spirit r, or rx8?!??!

perhaps you really should wait for the rx8 if you're goign to have to import. The reason for this is IF you have a mazda dealership in the area, im sure you can get an rx8 easier than a spirit r.

ya i agree with you in that sense, but we have "rice" garages here. So rx-7 would not be much of a problem too....afraid of being cheated though.
Anyway...i have been to the mazda website in Japan. They removed the rx-7.

Not sure what is going on...
So perhaps...my only choice is an rx-8 with a sub-woofer and a gt-wing at the back....THAT IS ALL.... LOL
I could not find any space in the bonnet to place the chargers.
looking from the pictures....perhaps if they were to remove the shields.

if you want to be unique, then get the spirit R, if $$$$ isn't a problem... This is the last FD...so it's worth it...

But if you have the TIME and the $$$$... then i would wait for the new generation Rx7 to come out... :D im saving myself for another Mazda Monster...hehehe

But then again, the 8 is a great all arnd car....

I believe you said handling will be important?

In that case, the FD may not be for you. The Spirit R is an awesome car with awesome power and good handling, but one thing about it, as with all FD, is that they are unforgiving when driven aggressively. If all you wanna do is cruise around town and be unique, the Spirit is great. But from what I've heard and read, the new rx-8 is going to be more forgiving in term of handling compared to the rx-7.

The FD (especially a Spirit R) is a brutally fast, visceral machine. It is not a very forgiving car -- with all that power and RWD, it is easy to get into trouble.

However, if you are looking for hardcore, no-compromises performance car, and you can live with only 2 seats and very little luggage area, ya gotta go with the Spirit R.

But, if you need to carry people and stuff in your car, and you need more stable and forgiving handling, go with the 8.

Yeah, but it has a 150mph electronic limiter that presumably wouldn't be there if it wasn't needed. It should be possible to calculate a ballpark top speed from the drag coefficient (Cd, around 0.3 I believe) and peak power (250), but I don't know the formula I'm afraid...

Mechanical losses (friction in the transmission friction, rolling resistance etc.) play a part as well, but aerodynamic drag swamps all other forces at that sort of speed.

The pre-prod cars in the states have had FE in the VINs. The person who was speculating on SE3P was merely speculating.
