User Conduct
1. Attacks on moderators will not be tolerated, and may result in an immediate permanent ban. Moderators sometimes have to make difficult judgment calls, but remember we *are* human (well at least most of us are!) Hopefully we'll make decisions that are considered "correct" by the majority of the community. Do not post complaints, criticisms, or moderation questions on the forum. These posts will be deleted and no explanation will be given. If you have a concern about a particular moderator, send a private message to a Super Moderator or Administrator. And if you have constructive suggestions on improvements that can be made to the forum or its moderation, please post them in the Suggestions area.

2. Keep in mind that this is not a democracy. We have the right to refuse service to anyone. If you make yourself too big of a pain in the butt to the moderating community or otherwise are a bad influence on the forum, your access may be revoked.

3. This is not a flame war site, so please do not engage in such. No distinction will be made between the instigator and those who merely participate.

4. Personal attacks against other forum members will not be tolerated, nor will any type of "trolling" for a fight. This includes political attacks, slurs, or sneering at any viewpoint or political party.

5. No racist, homophobic, or misogynistic remarks, including derogatory slang, be it overt or covert, will be tolerated.

6. Be respectful. This is harder to define, but will be moderated. An example would be disrespecting RX-8 owners who chose an automatic transmission over a manual, and "sneering" at them or acting like they're idiots for the choice they made. If a moderator believes you are being purposefully disrespectful to a fellow member, you will be notified. Bashing for the sake of bashing will not be tolerated.

7. Don't make slanderous accusations. If you have a problem with another member or business, and cannot prove it absolutely, don’t bring in into the forum. It could be treated as grounds for a lawsuit if you do. Provide your proof in any such posts. Post with accusations but no proof will be deleted, and the poster will be notified. If your beef is over a purchase/sales experience, we have an area of the forum devoted to that, the "Good Guy/Bad Guy" forum.

8. No sexually explicit material, nudity, or graphic violence are to be posted. The rule of thumb is that if it's something you wouldn't see on network TV, don't post it. The forum strives to maintain a welcoming and family type atmosphere for its members. Any attempts, overt or covert, to undermine this goal will not be tolerated.

9. If you are posting a new thread, do not use vulgarity in the title of the thread. Inside a thread, profanity will only be allowed if used in a controlled manner, and not directed at a particular forum member. Again, just try and be respectful of other forum members.

10. Attacks on new forum members (or "Noobies") will not be tolerated. Remember we were all new to the forum once.

11. Do not post a thread solely aimed at getting the attention of another forum member (i.e. posting ATTENTION FRED SMITH!) The forum provides a private messaging system for contacting individual forum members.

12. Posts soliciting for multilevel marking schemes (e.g. Free Ipod or similar) are not allowed, nor are any posts soliciting donations for ANY reason without special permission from forum Administration.

13. Multiple posts about the same thing across many forums are considered "spamming" the site and may result in the poster being banned.

14. Please include a descriptive subject for your thread. People shouldn't have to open the thread to find out what the topic is!

15. We do not have a street racing or "kills" forum on this site, and threads or posts about street racing will not be tolerated. These types of posts inevitably turn into flamewars, which nobody wins. Also, any forum member caught trolling and intentionally instigating a flame war on any other auto enthusiast forum gets an immediate 1-week ban; protesting this action results in a permanent ban.

16. Do not deliberately inflate your post count, aka "post-whoring" by responding to a thread with multiple responses when one would do, or "contributing" to threads with a constant string of "me to" or "yeah!" type comments. This has been tolerated in the past but will be no longer. Deliberately inflating one's post count does nothing but waste server space and turn otherwise useful threads into impossible to navigate pages of junk. If you want to chit chat, go to the lounge where useless threads are the norm. :-)

17. Do not start threads or submit posts on religion or politics in the Lounge area or anywhere else. Experience with the forum has proven that political or religious discussions inevitably become flamefests, which are prohibited (see the first rule above). So don't start them.

18. Allowable sales of items must be done via our Classified section, and users must read and agree to the Classifed Section Rules (below).

19. RX8Club forum has a very useful search feature. Many questions that new members might have will already have been answered - we recommend that you do a search first before posting a question.

Signatures and Avatars
1. Custom signatures are enabled, but any graphics used in such signatures are limited to a 20K file size with dimensions no larger than 500 pixels x 200 pixels.

2. Signatures are limited to six lines of regular text, including blank lines, or the equivalent size in picture, or picture/text combination.

3. There is currently no system to automatically check for signature size limits, so Admins and Moderators will be checking manually. Should your sig be found in violation, you will be asked to fix it; if you don't comply, it may be removed without warning. It is your responsibility to edit your sig and bring it within compliance.

4. Custom avatars are allowed, subject to a limit of a 8K file size and a 100x100 pixel image size. These limits are enforced automatically; the system will not allow you to upload an avatar image that exceeds them.

5. Banners or information linking to vendor sites ARE NOT ALLOWED in signatures unless the vendor being listed is a paying site vendor.

6. Signature and avatar content is subject to the same rules as forum posts. As a rule of thumb, if we won't allow it in a thread, it's not allowed in a signature. Moderators reserve the right to edit or remove any signature, avatar, or avatar caption as we deem necessary.
How We Handle Violations
Warnings or Infraction points can given out by moderators when forum rules are violated. If you receive a warning or an infraction, you will get a PM explaining the rule you violated, and will typically include a copy of the post that caused the problem. This system allows the recipient as well as to forum staff members a future reference when determining a pattern of repeat behaviors. All warnings and infractions are shared with other moderators and with forum administration to insure our use of this system is fair and impartial. Warnings carry no points, infractions are point-based, and automatic ban results when the maximum points are accrued. Moderators can also create a custom infraction with maximum points to create an immediate ban. Current Infractions include: Avatar/Signature Rule Violation = 1 point, expires Never Inappropriate Language or posted content = 1 point, expires Never Other Violation = 1 point, expires Never Vendor Rules Violation = 1 point, expires Never Inciting or continuing a fight = 2 points, expires Never Insulted Other Member(s) = 2 points, expires Never Custom Infraction = _(Mods choose)_ points, expires _(Mods choose)_ Points accumulated = length of ban time 3 Points = 3 Day ban 5 Points = 7 Day ban 8 Points = 2 Week ban 10 Points = Permanent ban Egregious violations (ie, threatening a mod, threatening other members with violence, illegal porn, etc) can result in an instant and permanent ban via the "custom infraction" and assigning a 10 point value. Finally, please don't "start a crusade" to get a banned member reinstated - they did it to themselves, and crusading to get them returned in open forum may do no more good than to earn you infractions too. If you have an issue with a member being banned, take it up privately with the forum Administration, don't start threads about it. Remember, this is not a democracy, and forming a posse will NOT help you or the banned member. We want all of our members to enjoy their time here. Those who refuse to abide by these policies are asked to find a venue that suits them better, rather than create problems for our members and staff --Thank you!
