Rx8 first TV advert - and its for BP Ultimate Petrol!
There I was, being all swanky with my Sky+ box (which I love and cherish and am sooo happy is now free), sitting down this evening to watch Happy Gilmore (golf film which launched Adam Sandler which I hadn't seen) which was recorded Monday 13th at 11.25pm, and I started to fast forward through the adverts at 30x speed when I was sure I was dreaming of my nice silver RX-8. I was convinced I saw a single frame image of it on the screen just before a Burger King Logo and a Cisco systems hacking screen. I rewound back, and sure enough, there it was!
A Silver RX-8, Reg place UVV 101, advertising BP's new Ultimate petrol. It was advertising giving extra performance to sporty cars (there was a Ford Galaxy on there to advertise the less pollution part too). It's on screen for about 5-6 seconds with a few angles.
I have it recorded still on the Sky+ hard drive, but I haven't looked into whether theres an EASY way of getting it off, so I haven't.
Look out for it!!

Nice one Si, I'll have to look out for it.
Seems strange using an RX-8 as I believe the new BP petrol is 100RON, and from what we have seen the RX-8 only needs regular 95RON unleaded.
Ive got my Sky+ being installed this weekend now the rental is free, Im looking forward to it so glad to hear you love it!
Cheers

From what I've heard Optimax is still a better petrol.
Oh and the RX-8 , whilst only requiring 95ron, will love you for higher odctane petrol.
All Mazda demo's in US were done with 100octane petron, not the 91octane crap for sale in Cali. Mazda made sure by filling the cali test cars up themselves.
The engine has a knock sensor (of course it does!) which detectsa the onset of pinking, and ajusts the timing as nessicary, with higher octane petrol pre-ignition is less of a problem so can advance the timing more - which is more power. May take a few tanks for the ECU to learn this aparently.

BP Ultimate Unleaded is a unique formulation that improves vehicle performance, cleans your engine and delivers less pollution than regular fuels.
BP Ultimate Unleaded has a research octane level of 97, which is higher than standard unleaded petrol, which has a research octane level of 95. This, on average, gives increased power in certain vehicles.
BP Ultimate is more than just increased power. The benefits of new BP petrol also include enhanced cleaning power and reduced engine friction.
The performance benefits depend on the individual vehicle, but our aim has been to give material performance benefits to all vehicles that upgrade from any ordinary unleaded to BP Ultimate, in the areas of improved acceleration and responsiveness, increased power and reduced fuel consumption.
Unlike previous generations of "premium" fuels, these benefits are related to much more than just increased octane number.
All benefits are compared to regular fuel of typical UK quality. Whilst some benefits are noticeable on many car types quite quickly, for full benefits to be delivered we recommend continuous use of BP Ultimate for at least five tankfuls.

I'm hoping that as the nearest garage to me is a BP that they will give me the 1.5p on the petrol back that they added as a result of the budget tax rise. BP were the only ones that did so!

I'm currently working at BP in London (don't work for them, my company is a software supplier). They have some plasma displays playing the ad on repeat in their entrance area
