Ride Height

Maybe it's an optical illusion but the ride heights on these cars look different.

Not sure if some are low power and others high or the body kits create a different look but there seems to be a difference between the US and Euro Cars.

What do you think??

Cheers

Overall height here in the US is

52.8 inches or 1341mm and ground clearance is listed at 4.7 inches (119mm) "laden." What laden means is not defined. Assume it means 2 men and luggage (I guess).

On the Italian Mazda site the height is listed at 1340mm and the ground clearance at 135mm. But it says nothing about "laden" or curb weight.

Since these numbers don't make sense, if the U.S. car is lower it should also have a lower overall height.

I assume that the 135mm is the car empty.

Sitting on the lawn clearly makes a difference. You can see the tires sunk down a couple inches into the grass. RomanoM's numbers are weird; hard to make sense of what they mean.

I report you get confused..I don't get involved:p :D

Unfortunately I don't read German or French and the UK site doesn't list ground clearance.

On the USA site it's measured with weight in the car (maybe even full gross vehicle weight) and between the axles. Could be just the way and where the ground clearance is measured that makes the difference.

Oilman, I agree. The Tit Grey car looks lower than the Silver one, and its not just because the Tit one is on the grass. Look at the relationship of the front wing indicators, and the Silver one is higher than the TiT Grey. The Silver one has more "air" in the wheel arches. Could someone have let the tires down a bit on the Tit grey one ?

I Agree too. The effect of the car being on grass makes it look lower anyway, but if you look at the clearance of the wheel arches, the tit grey has less of a gap.

I dont see why they would be different, but hope ours look more like the tit grey Euro one.

I think the image of the tit grey is more like what the UK cars will ride at, based on the information provide at the preview event.

I measured the gap between the top of the tyre and the bottom of the wheel arch at just over 2" (on the pre prod model) and the Mazda guy said that the UK cars would be 1 to 1.5" lower.

Almost my car - rael can have that one on the grounds of the fuel cap. I will wait for one with just the side-strakes.

How good do they look on the tit car ? Really finish it off.

Exactly my point, does the low power ride higher anyway?

Actually I am not 100% on the fuel cap but think it adds a little 'sport' signature, depends on cost though. Not as necessary as the strakes.

rael,

The prices of the fuel filler and the strakes are as follows:

Fuel filler lid, polished aluminium - also available in brushed aluminium finish (£199.95)

Air outlet fins, polished aluminium - also available in brushed aluminium finish (£174.95)
I don't think either of them represent great value.

I agree on cost but the fins do add a bit of 'classic' pose and I think the cap actually goes with the tit grey. Really depends on what else is on offer. I definately want to do something with the back to smarten that up a bit.

Chris, side fins for £175. Is that for a pair (one side) or for 4 ?

There has got to be someone out there who is going to make replica stakes for much less than £100? £175 is crazy money and they look so great they really should have been part of the original build.

If anyone knows any great deals on accessories, please post...

I got the pics somewhere off this forum, but God knows where I've read so many threads.... I kept it for two reasons, I love black (but know I'm too lazy to keep it clean) and I think the strafes are amazing. Here's the only other picture I have of that car.

You should also look out for the black car with the X-Men Body Kit!!
