Just to let everybody know I came back from the Nicosia meet today.

Turn out was really good, we had about 20 or so with and without their cars fighting the cause.

Tomorrow some of the chaps will be heading for a meeting with Mazda in Nicosia and they will update us accordingly.

I hope Mazda is ready to help us realising that the majority of us will always use them for servicing and parts for our cars.

Met versus4582 also, who has collected quite a few signatures and details, so if you haven't had the chance to sign please contact somebody and do so. I understand these guys are working very hard for all of us so the more the merrier.

Also VERSUS4582 I know you took some pictures at the meet so please post if you have the chance.

Falconer how many turned up in the end at the Larnaca meet?

Not as many as I had hoped for it ended up being about 10 signatures thats all, really if we are going to succed we need Mazda's help on this as well. We need to get the pettition in all the dealerships in Cyprus, and maybe even get them to send out letters to all the people registered with 8's on their database to go to one of the dealerships and sign it.

The other thing is, Maybe Stephanides could get in contact with Mazda Greece as they fought and beat their government on this. Hopefully if we can get their argument and the case files off them we may stand a better chance of winning.

The newspaper politis writes the following today:
In short that the 8 is 1308cc and not 2616cc and that the opinion of the Attorney General relied on the company Stephanides, who represent Mazda in Cyprus, whereby the Mazda RX8 should be registered as 1308 cc and not 2616!!!

Seems like politis is backing us now, also Stephanides, which is good! If we could a few more media outlets to help, Tv Stations as well to try and get the message across to the government and road transport department, that would also help.

20 people in Nicosia and 10 in Larnaca isn't it too low ??? I mean if we are around 700 RX8 onwers where are the rest ? I cannot believe that the rest 670 are in Limassol & Paphos...
and also cannot believe that the rest just don't care...

Anyway, from what I understood there's a possibility that Limassol onwers will meet this Saturday for the signature collection.
Giorgos will be sending sms or call once it is finalized.

rx owners

my dear friends, sorry to talk like this but i am 100 procent that we will not do nothing in this way.if we want to work it up and atract someone's attention we should make meeting, not 20 cars, but at least 200.i was very dissapointed that in nicosia we gathered only 15 cars.Myself i have raised 10 signatures from my friends, other friend 15,and versus(giogios)another 20.AUFULLL AND EMBARASSING!!!!!and think about organising some protest,we will not be more than 40 cars,so is not even 10 procent of the rotary owners, witch is verry dissapointing procent.what to say more,i hope that we will do something but.......

Here's a thought : maybe we missed to inform all those onwers ? Some might not have access to internet or they don't have any contact details for the club members etc.... otherwise I cannot find any logical explanation why someone will not spend 15 minutes and what...1 euro petrol to join the gathering and give his signature to (at leasT) try to save himself 500..

Is there any way we can find out all the onwers from each city and give them a call to see if they are aware ?
(maybe from mazda services - at least the ones going to Mazda for service) ?

here is a good word!ORGANISE!!!!i think that club members in charge with this actions could give us to stick some announces everywhere in cyprus, make something that we will go public like a 30-40 cars protest, where we could attract attention from the media, the club's president to make an announce on tv or somewhere, for people to see and gather more!!!!!

not sure about the radio ads.... we will count on the correct timing only...

but I just thought of something; I got to know about all this from the mazda service in limassol. Someone gave his mobile number there and monday morning when I went to ask what's going on , they gave me his number to call. afterwards of course I saw the thread here.

I suggest that we should do the same in all cities; peopel knowing the madza stuff can tell them to give the numbers provided in this thread to anyone asking them for updates (if this didn't happen yet)

There are so many?when they become mebers in facebook?
I just yesterday found it. If a lot of those are as new as me then they could not here about the signature.
So if it will arrange another round of signutures and announce it in any way we can i believe that the results will be better!!!

I am thinking of organizing a second meeting for Nicosia area residents during the weekend for all those that missed the first one...I am not sure how this one will go but lets hope it will be better ...Spread our cause everywhere and with every possible way you can ...We may have news in the next few days so we have to lay low for 1 - 2 days until things get clearer and if things aren't going our way we will proceed with mobile movements. The more massive our convoi will be the better ...We have been told that R&T dept is considering to aplly the 2.6 L only for the UK imported 8's ...Nothing is for sure though yet thats why i suggest being a bit more patient and we ll take it from there ...

I think whoever had access to the forum, facebook and/or talked already with someone from us most probably already showed up and signed.
Even if someone had something urgent and didn't make it, I'm pretty sure he will contact you and arrange to meet you somewhere to give his/her signature.

We need to figure out how to get the others and I'm sure many didn't even get the letter for the change yet , so they might have no clue what is cooking now...

Regarding the rush... I do agree we need to wait and see; we should though have the signatures ready; we will mobilize only after we exhaust all the other ways to pass our message and we see that we are not getting what is right.

As I have said previously the only way to get aworthwhile turn out for the pettition is to get Mazda to use their database for a mail out and get them to go to the dealers showrooms to sign the pettition in their town. Otherwise it's not worth it 40 cars between larnaca and Nicosia, I find this really poor. There is the free papers that could be advertised in, if any of you have family members in the media get them to help?

Costas, (mr2000x)

sorry for not getting back to you, left my phone in the car just realised now, thanks for the info!

The war is just starting with Road Tax department

Just to keep you a bit posted regarding the effort to co-ordinate and form an RX8 group to fight the Cyprus Road Tax department.

1) There was a corrected article in Politis rectifying the initial article
2) Today, there is down to earth article in Phileleftheros
3) We will form an OFFICIAL Cyprus Club so that members can joint. We will register it OFFICIALLY in Cyprus. And currently Louis is the reponsible person. Effort is getting done, in addition to Giorgos in Nicosia, to have responsible people in every city.
4) We are in the process to have an OFFICIAL website for this effort. I am working on the logistics to set it up and we have already one RX-8 owner in the IT industry willing to be the Fascillitator/Operator of the site as this requires hard and continued work (Constantinos). This website will be the Official Voice of the Official RX club
5) It goes without saying that the website will have numbers like 1308 (so that Mr. Kolettas and his people at last may be able to memorize correctly the capacity of RX rotary engines). The RX will be used so that can combine RX7/RX8 owners as we are on the same boat.

The war, just started and it is NOT simply just to go to court.

Any Official who is NOT able to perform his duties in the Road tax department or in any Ministry related to CARS in Cyprus, in year 2010, should retire and let younger people to take over. Enough mess they have created over the years and it is NOT simply the RX8 issue.

Need to be united and create first of all OFFICIAL STATUS and establish PERFECT COMMUNICATION between the members.
