I know in germany you just have to pass the test on base to get your car legal. The test on base has nothing to do with the German TUV inspection so its not as strict. I have a 100 cel cat on my skyline and it passed just fine.

Are you getting the car tested on base or by Belgium control?

interesting, i was under the impression things were different. AFAIK the roadworthyness stuff is done by Belgian and not on base officials. One of the locations to get the inspection done is on SHAPE, but its my understaning it is still an official Belgian thing...

Oh, SHAPE is NATO I believe so it might be different requirements than the USEUR here in Germany. Here when you go through the inspection you get the long plates and you have all the markings as if you were inspected by the Germans, but the inspection is less significant.

yes SHAPE is NATO HQ. Chievres AB/Army Garrison is actually a GSU detachment of Rammstein. And we get the same deal here, with euro plates and all. I'll have to get solid confirmation on what standards we fall to, but so far i'm under the impression its the local Belgian standards which are dictated by European Union.

Either way, i know they do emissions and know that its really low standard compared to the US. Just wondering how low can it be, and is there the possiblity i could pass and idle only test if i leaned it out enough

so, paul, did you get your inspection yet? I have to pass a safety inspection here in germany next month, since my car was new within one year when i brought it here I didnt need an inspection for two years. not sure if they will emissions test also but I guess i dont need to worry about it since i am still stock.

no havent yet, but it just turned january and holidays just ended so...

i'm not familiar with german inspection, but i had read some stuff that made it seem like its all governed by the european union, so its probably similar. since your stock the only things to care about are safety things(lights/tires/etc) and possibly the red red fog light if that rule is enforced in germany
