No, not offended. It wasn't the first time i've come within moments of death from someone else's stupidity on a 'fun run'. Each time it just cripples any inclination i have to participate in any further. 3-4 cars is tops, and I have to have a pretty good feeling for the skill level of who i'm driving with. That time was just another group coming through, one that was too big to avoid trouble.

Later that day I posted a non-specific reminder to people to rein in the egos and adrenaline when driving in events on public roads on an enthusiast Facebook site I'm part of. Someone that had been in the event pointed the organizer of the event over to me and he asked details, and I shared them, not trying to get anyone in trouble, just being honest. He figured out which driver that was and noted that he was already on the verge of getting booted, so they would take steps.

I still haven't found a single thing funny about that incident. It was pure stupidity on the other driver's part, and I've never found stupidity funny.

RIWWP,
I don't care for the dragon either. Doesn't hurt my feelings not to drive it while I'm up there. Other roads in the area are much more enjoyable and not crowded. So don't let just avoiding the dragon dis-sway you from the event if that's the only thing keeping you from being interested. There are other amazing roads in the area.

Understood, the community stuff is a big lure to me. The main reason i haven't actually gone is that it's always scheduled when i have other more important commitments.

But yes, if I went to the main event, i would avoid the roads themselves as much as possible.

There were several people there on a stock suspension. I would def upgrade it if you can.

The roads can be scary but can also be just fun. Its up to you how you push it. Also there is enough locals there driving the road that you usually have to slow down for them.

Basically the road can be as challenging as you want it to be. But there is plenty of people there and cars there that the road is not the only reason to go.

Plus there is that awesome karoake night at the local bar. Right Jesse?

Was that remarked because you were on your back staring at it after a few too many drinks?

Well, that's something to think about.
I'd be there more for the camaraderie and the scenic road trip up there than the actual driving of the ToD.
There are some nice twisty roads not far from here, the Flint Hills area in Kansas has some nice roads.

That was no "normal" Prius.

To contribute to the thread, Ive been 2 time in the last 2 years, both have been a great. Last time I did a little more exploring of the area than last. From St Louis I think it took about 10 hours or so with stopping.

My plan as well. I wanna make DGRR for 2016 hopefully, and I have a strong feeling im gonna limit my time on the Dragon. I'm confident in my own driving, but with it being a big event and crowded, its other drivers on the road that worry me. If I go it'll be mainly for the meet ups and main event attraction type things.

Big Cajun - It is worth the trip. The Dragon is what it is. It is fun to drive and all that, but on weekends it isn't fun because of the mouth breathers in SUV's and and cruiser bikes. Tennessee just recently officially banned 18 wheelers. Sadly it has the reputation that brings out the worst in people. That being said they area is wonderful. Fontana Dam area, Smokies and Natahallah parks are all right there. Also there are so many other roads that are more technical and less crowded in the area to drive and enjoy.

I go to the meet now more to hang out with people than the Dragon. But I grew up near there so I tend to drive every time I go back home.

RIWWP - See above. Go during the week and during the "off season" and you will be lucky to see anyone else on the road. Cops will outnumber people on those days.
