Winnipeg, MB. My 1st month owning my rx-8

Just got my car a month ago (brilliant black, 6 spd, no spoiler, no nav) and got about 1250 kil. in the first week. So anyway, just my luck on May 25, ran over a nail. Punctured a hole to close to the side wall to repair. About 2 weeks and 500 dollars later.... I picked her up this past Tuesday. Other than that nail, havn't had any problems with the car so far.

I noticed that there arn't many posts from Winnipeg, but i've seen 3 rx-8's around my area, st. vital. A yellow, blue and red. But I'm sure there are alot more than that in the city.

Seen more driving during winter... Well maybe not, but I used to see alot more than I do now.

I've made serveral searches for any recent Winnipeg threads, but no luck. Guess we'll see how long this lasts.

Just wanted to share my first month being an owner.

Two weeks to get a tire? That hurts. Not to mention the 500 clams.
Anyway, I'm not in Wpg either but am similarly lonely in Toontown.

Hey, chances are pretty good I might be the blue! I have seen another blue in our area, it still has the original side markers -- I've got the clear corners

I live in Owen Sound about 2 1/2 hours north of Toronto. I am just over the one month mark and have about 4500 km on so far. There are also two other RX-8s in Owen Sound so we are kind of a rare bread.

My tires are holding up, but I have had my fist paint chip on the hood, and by first micro-chip on the windshield. I speak about the cars health and well being as if it was a child :-)

Drove by a blue rx-8 today on my way out to get food. Was that you by any chance blue freeze? I gave a small wave.

Also drove around a bit, didn't see any on the road or parked.

My friend also said that there is a red rx-8 parked at a drug store near the UofM most of the time.

Not that I'm lonely, but it would be nice to know another rx-8 owner, other than a owner of a mazda dealship.

List Newbie here. I just picked up my '05 GS on Friday (17th).

I'm another 'Pegger so If you see a Nordic Green 8 running in the River East area, it's likely me.

So, what are the ages of the local Winnipeg 8'ers?

I'm most likely the old fart of the group at 41. I'm also the oldest member of the local MBDSM group (Talon/ Eclipse owners group). I've had to relegate my old '90 Talon TSI-Awd to "winter beater" status.

Hey I'll be in Winnipeg during the July 1 weekend. If you see a Ti with lots of dead bugs on the front grill that's me!

Chrissss, I was actually considering the car you purchased, would you mind telling us what kind of deal you managed to get on it?

Thanks!

One more thing! I want to hear from the Winnipeg guys about winter driving. No one in this forum has winters like ours.

Thanks again.

About $2700 off sticker price...a little over $35K with all the extra charges and a few goodies (like block heater, etc) included.

Easy...DON'T !! The last few winters with all the salt rotted my Talon away quite badly. I'm keeping my Talon as a winter beater since All-wheel drive is just too great for winter. You can pick up 1G AWD Talon's pretty cheap nowadays.

Spotted in Winnipeg

Hey, anyone here at Polo Park today? I spotted a silver 8 on the upper deck of the parkade Sunday afternoon. Looked like an '05 GS like mine.

spotted downtown

Spotted a red 8 parked on the curb lane north bound on main st. parked infront of Earls a couple days ago.

Also noticed a Titanium Grey 8 with gold emblems downtown infront of penthouse.

I am one of the red 8 drivers in st vital. (Royalwood).
There is a blue one in river park south. I drive by it on my way to work.
As for winter driving, no problem. You will not make it through a winnipeg blizzard, but a good set of winter tires and you are good to go.
Mine was driven last winter, but only on cold, dry days, no slush etc.
The bad winter days, I was parked in a garage on a trickle charger.
As for rust....all cars will rust, winter driven or not.
A trip to Krown rust proofing for a good oil spray will do you a lot of good.

Hey, sorry about the late reply, I just moved and had no internet service for over a week. I don't know if that was me, I never noticed another 8, but then again I may have been in my own little world at the time.

Unfortunately, it seems like whenever I do see another 8 the driver doesn't wave or anything. A belated wave back if I missed you!

It's alright. You did however seem like you were lost in thought when you passed by.

It would be nice to have a few 8's meet one day, or meet with the manitoba mazda club at the zoo on sunday. I'm just waiting until they annouce their next meet.

They meet every Sunday around 7:30pm from what I understand.

Of course we could do our own meet. Maybe meet at the Pony Corral during their Sunday night car show? We could show off several 8 's in the show zone? I did that a couple weeks ago. The 8 attracted a lot of attention.

Well, let's do it then. Let's meet at the Pony Corral on Pembina Hwy on Sunday (weather permitting). How's 7:00pm sound? Any other Winnipeg 8 's want to join us?

BTW, mines Nordic Green

Been working overtime past few days, just been going straight to bed.
7 sounds good, unless we get some heavy rain.

Sorry about the mix up of color.

I'll post again on Sunday to double check.
