Will my exteneded warranty cover this???
Hi guys,
I’m hoping to get the expert opinion of Mazda Service Techs on the forum, or anyone that might have some good advice.
I purchased my 2004 Manual GT Used from Oakville Mazda with an extended warranty. The salesman who sold me the car told me that the warranty was bumper to bumper, which after I bought the car I found out it actually wasn’t. I haven’t been happy with this dealer or the service at Erin Mills Mazda either.
For various problems that I’ve taken the car in for, that I assumed would be covered by my warranty, haven’t been covered and I feel like I’m simply paying $100 every time I have a problem only to find out that they wont cover it.
I took my car in for a loud! clutch noise (my bracket already broke and has been re-welded so not that). Erin Mills Mazda blamed it on my release bearing and said it was normal. The only way they said mazda would cover it was if I gave them the green light to drop the transmission and physically inspect the bearing. Then they would send a report to mazda, then if mazda said yes it would be covered….otherwise I would have to pay for ALL of this work $1000+.
I took my car to a friends shop an they found out the noise was the clutch “fork arm” and they somehow were able to get some lubricant in there an now its perfect. So again the dealer was totally wrong.
Getting to my current problem……… My transmission grinds any time I shift from 3rd to 4th around or above 4000 RPM. After reading around it seems like the consensus is worm Syncros.
In my extended warranty documentation it says that everything inside the transmission is covered. I baby my car, always try to rev match and drive it pretty easy.
Will this repair be covered by my warranty? I don’t want to waste more money to find out they won’t fix it.
Thanks guys

I've had similar dealership experiences in Burlington and Mississauga.
Like so many others I've started to go to Scarboro Mazda for any warranty work.
They seem fair, knowledgeable and stand head and shoulders above the rest of the dealerships.

I have 105, 000 Kilometers on the car. Bought it with 64, 000 k and the warranty is good for 80, 000 i believe
When I explained the clutch noise issue they made it sound desperate for me to bring it in and that it would most likely be covered, I just don't want to get taken advantage of again, whats the point of buying a warranty if they won't fix anything?

If it's not normal wear and tear it should be covered. But my extended warranty has covered my coils twice, and my ABS Unit($2400.00) including rental, so I can't complain. But my extended is through Fidelity and according to the service guy at my dealer they are great to work with. My girlfriend has one through Fidelity on her new Corolla and it covers towing, rental, and even lodging if you are out of town.
