Starters on 04' models

Hey guys,
From reading some of the stuff on the forums....it seems like the 2004 models has a weak starter issues...I really didn't pay too much attention to it until a friend of mine pointed it out to me when she was sitting in my 8...

Its doesn't seem to start up smooth and quick like Thief's or Footman's...something it sounds like it wouldn't start up (BUT it never has...yet thank god)

Just wondering if anyone could provide me with some solid info on the topic....

Thanks

there is a huge difference the new starter feels like it spins twice as fast. just start someone else's 8 you know that has it then start yours you should know instantly.

It's kinda funny she pointed it out with you. I do have the occasional hiccup where it takes a bit longer to turn over but I don't think she's ever been in the car when it's happened. But you're right, I do notice it compared to the newer models.

A) you're not covered under that warantee anymore...
B) why bother replacing something that works? As long as the car starts... who gives a rats *** about what it sounds like.

how much does the new starter cost? depending on the cost i think its a great mod. less likely to flood easier starts. seem well worth a few hundred

From my readings on this forum..the cost of a used one is about 80-100....and there a link on this thread that teaches how to change it...its doesn't seem too hard...
