Event #2 is upon us. Even if you're not running the series it's an inexpensive day on the DDT at Mosport.

The day consists of lots of track time, lapping and a single "Holy Grail" run at the end of the day. Electronic timers in use, the same equipment used by CASC-OR Solosprint.

As one of the prizes of the day, the ATTS will be giving 1 solosprint event as a draw prize. In addition to that fantastic prize, Royal Purple will be giving away Whole Cases of Oil of your choice, plus Go Pro Camera's, Hawk Brakes. Plus you'll be earning points towards the remaining ATTS series which enables you to win part of the $12760.00 worth of prizes, including Toyo Tires.

Event 2 of the Toyo Tires / SPDA Attack Time Trial Series will be held at Mosport DDT. Simple Rules, Simple Classes, Lots of track time, Lots of fun!!!

Date: July 26, 2009
Location: Mosport DDT

Event Timing:
Registration / Scrutineering: 7:30 – 10:00
Drivers Meeting: 8:45
Track open for walk: 8:20 am (Must register first)
Practice Runs: 9:30 – 12:10
Marshall Lunch: 12:10 – 1:10

The DDT provides a challenging track layout with multiple configurations available. The SPDA has selected a configuration which will benefit both the High Horsepower cars as well as the stock vehicles. Determining the ultimate winner for this venue will be dependant on the driver.

This event counts towards the accumulation of points towards the ATTS series and at this point, the series is up for grabs. Some top placing competitors from event 1 may not place favorably giving away valuable points. Join the ATTS Time Attack and make your mark.

Advanced registrations have been received, and there are currently 57 registrations.

actually... was just reading their website which states the following:

"
Do I need a competition license?
For the Gymkhana, Touge, and Drag you do not need a competition license. For the Time Attack, CASC-OR / ASN Canada FIA requires that every driver participating has a CASC-OR Class C Competition License. But have no fear, for people participating in all 4 events, the fees for the competition license is covered already by Toyo Tires, all you’ll need to do is to fill in the following form and bring it with you to the event: http://casc.on.ca/forms/licenceformdvr07.pdf"

This event is the time attack.. and seeing as how there were no 8's in the previous comp.. i believe we're all boned. well... unless you wanna pay another 60 bux....

In any case... lookin' everything over I might go to all of them next year... with the exception of the drag... we all know what would happen there...

fyi REV

"For competitors participating in less than 4 events or Time Attack only, a fee of $10.00 is required for the “Single Use” competition license."

so an extra $10 to play

But -
2. Helmet and clothes
The helmet shall have SNELL 2000 or later certification or a sticker on the inside of the helmet that says SNELL M2000 or SA2000. Drivers of Open Modified class cars shall have a SNELL SA-rated helmet. (M2000 and SA2000 are no longer sold, but shall be accepted, as shall FIA-spec helmets.) Helmets shall be in good condition subject to scrutineer approval.

Know anyone we can borrow some helmets from?

Fyi

Your car has a 12.73 lbs / HP rating, which would put you in the following classes:

Using street tires: A Class (Lowest Class)
Using Regular R compounds greater than 50 Treadwear: B Class (Same as A but with R comps)
Using your BFG R-1: D Class (Fastest Class, due to the less than 50 Treadwear UTQG rating of the tires).

Hope this helps, feel free to ask more questions.

Hrmmm... so that would pit us against a bunch of honda's (civics, rsx, etc).... could be fun.

So... the BFG's have a treadwear of 40... that kinda sucks... but... I guess I could kill it with the KDW's.

Now would just have to find a helmet......

Sorry guys, I am here. I might be able to help you guys out with helmets as my club has a couple of loaners. Also most motorcycle helmets are Snell so that might be an option too if you know someone you can borrow from. And yes it's $85 if you're not running the whole series. Still a great deal for the DDT. I'm in B class with my 2006 MX-5. All the Mazdas (and other makes) get parked together in the paddock so it would be great to see the brand represented.

SJD - I emailed them, and they said there is no extra charge for the license.
Cool man if u could confirm that about the helmets?!?!

This is the email I got -
The BFG R-1 will put you into D class, if you ran Toyo R888, RA-1's, Kumho V70A, or Kumho V700 you'd end up in C class. No need for the Class C license as we'll be providing you with those for the day. It's a special dispensation from CASC-OR and FIA, helmet are required for lapping and the time attack. Snell 2000 or newer, if you have a cage in the car then an SA helmet is required. Cost for the day is $75.00

Note: Your car may end up in B class if you use a non premium R compound (Toyo R888, RA-1's, Kumho V70A, or Kumho V700 ) depending on rated HP and Weight of the car. If your Weight to HP ratio is greater than 12:1 then you'll fit in B.

That's good news about the license. We have two helmets and I can bring them for you. Since you guys aren't running the whole series I would just run on D class on the R1's. It would be more enjoyable than street tires. I'm on R888's.

Thanks guys! I hope to see you running though not watching.

Remember Mosport has its own weather system as I am sure Al can attest to.

haha.. screw it.. I"m gonna run. We'll see how the KDW's will hold up (hopefully I wont get my **** handed to be too badly by the civics). How much track time on average will we see? Trying to figure out how bad the tires are gonna be abused.

Thx guys!

It was lots of fun! Thx sjd for the loaner helmets. And FYI I don't like helmets in the 8, no head room

It was an interesting day, some fast cars. That track sure is hard on brakes on tires. Took Rev and I awhile to get some lines down and the start building speed. Only in open lapping (when the event was over) that started to put down some better runs. Well organized good day!

Oh..and saw a few wipeouts and one pretty crazy one just after the rain. But no real damage done.
