Mosport May 10, 2009

Hi everyone,
Last year we did a Mazda day at Mosport on the Mother's day race weekend. It was a free day for all Mazda owners with lapping behind a pace car at lunch time. I had done this for the RX7 club in past years, but the turn out was always diappointing to say the least. I thought this year I would start with the RX8 Club as the "main" club and invite selected others. Just want to know how many people would come out for this type of event. There will be an area for parking and watching the races (all free of course) then when the racing stops for lunch we will go out on the track for lapping behind a pace car. No special equipment is needed, just to go out and have fun. I also thought of adding a fee of like $20.00 for the track and donating the money to Sick Kids Hospital, I think it would look good on the club to do that.

Hopefully by then, my Eibach/Tein S-tech's are installed and settled.

Is the order:
1) install
2) settle
3) 4 wheel alignment

?

im in. 20 bucks for sick kids sounds great. im in for that as well. this is on a sunday, right? i should have my suspension in by then so it will be much more fun than driving around with a blown shock. haha. question, with a pace car means going around the track at a reasonable speed right? im just worried that i dont have any experience on a race track where i know some of these other guys do, and i dont wanna get in their way and spoil there fun, or be pressured into pushing myself as to not get in anyone elses way. i supose i could always be at the back of the pack. meh. in regardless.

As per last 2 years I will be driving the pace car (most likely an R3). The pace will be brisk, but not fast enough that anyone will get into trouble or loose brakes etc. The idea of the day is a car show before and after, a special area around the track will be made available for all to park. I am thinking of inviting other clubs to attend, but havent made a decision as of yet. I will invite the RX7 club, because they are the club this all started with.

Once I get final confirmation from the organizing club I will post it to the RX7 guys. The problem in the past years was that lots of people signed up and only about 35% actually showed.

Count me in!!

This is a great idea, just in time for when my 8 comes out of hybernation.

Last time i ran at Mosport was in '07 when Mazda Canada sponsored a track day with performance driving lessons and all the works (now that was a blast, having a professional driver tell you how to get all you can from the car!!!)

Keep us posted with more info.

Cheers,

Crude oil future for May 2009 is about $52, you probably won't be paying $1/L unless US start a war with Iran.

This is going to be awesome...should we bring co-drivers? Is that cool? Would love to have a friend experience the excellent handling our cars have.
