I am head golf professional at Dragon's Fire Golf Club in Carlisle Ontario....

If we can get enough interest to start a tourney i can make it happen...and at the best price to all of my fellow rx-8 club members...

I would even throw in some free lessons for my fellow Zoom Zoomers!!

i may start a new thread if i get some interest....

Cheers!
I'm in Waterdown as well.

Spending way too much time reading everything I can about the RX8 in anticipation of buying one in early March. Maybe we'll pass each other on Centre Rd soon enough

Is there a decent and fair shop for rotary issues (if needed) in town or do you use Burlington Mazda?

Cheers Mate!!

Keep your eye out for a Winning Blue 8 in Waterdown!

I see the odd rx-8 every once in a while in waterdown, a red one and a silver one....

WNGD, 289-880-1237 is my cell number.....if you have any questions or anything i can help with let me know....i am only minutes away! lol....

as for mechanics, mine is located in oakville and he is a rotary specialist and a great guy, he only works on rotary engines, i will pass along his information to you....

As for premix, i have not been able to track down idemistu unless it is ordered in, so i use a semi-synthetic 2-stroke premix, amsoil is the brand i do believe...i will post a pic for you when i finish work,i get it at Canadian Tire in Waterdown.

Look forward to meeting you and your 8!

Cheers,
Big Fella

If you meant Marco, he's in Pickering now FYI. If not, pass along his info to us too! Haha

I live in Dundas and have a 2008 Metropolitan Grey 40AE RX8 (see pic) you might see me up there (I'm in Waterdown frequently). I would be interested in your Oakville mechanic's name/location. I'm using Mountain Mazda and they are good (better than Burlington Mazda), but I'm always concerned of the rotary knowledge leaving the dealerships since they haven't sold an RX in 4 years.

I would argue all the dealerships around here are useless. I've dealt with mountain, Burlington and Ajax, never had a positive experience with any of them, and they've never appeared confident with the car. But that's just my experience.. I'm sure there's a lot of guys on here who love overpaying and getting dicked around with serious issues.

If you're local to Hamilton area I'd say give Jamie at Upper Gage garage a try for a day to day mechanics. He is a good guy, honest, and has owned rx7's and 8's. He knows the car well and is very reasonable with pricing. Any serious engine modding, or motor rebuilds (anything rotor specific) the only guy anyone ever talks about is Marco at rx-tuning, who was in Oakville and now in Pickering. He's had my car for the winter, and I'm excited to see how it comes back..

O snap!

I was not aware he had moved but yes i was referring to Marco....

He is the only mechanic i trust with my car as he has years of rotary experience....

Thats kind of a bummer that he's out in Pickering now but in my opinion i think its still worth the drive out there to have any major work done.

The 8 can be finicky sometimes and not all mechanics (even mazda mechanics) have experience with the rotary which is why i take my car to Marco, but this Jamie guy sounds legit having owned a few rotaries....I will have to keep him in mind, Thanks!

Cheers

Just a reminder that just over a week from now there is a meet planned for Sunday May 24 (12pm) at hamilton's Bayfront Park parking lot (see event in this group). Hope to see you there. Also posted in the Central West Ontario RX8 club thread and Facebook page.

Well if you can get some locals to come out to the meet, then I'll make way out to the
event, but in reality coming from Oshawa it's a long way to go for just a 3 car gathering

Yes, look 2 posts up:

No specific cruise planned, but that doesn't mean something can't be arranged once we're together.

Quite frankly, the first step is to get folks together. This has been a challenge in this area recently. If we want to have meets close to home (western end of Lake Ontario for some of us), then we need folks to show up or else organizers may get frustrated and give up.

Looks like there won't be many able to make the meet on the Hamilton Bay Front Park on Sunday (May 24). Let's cancel and reschedule for sometime in June.
For those who do want to meet-up with other 8s and 7s, there will be a GTA group meet on May 31 (Highway 7 & 400 area). See you there.

Anyone Up For A Small Meet

I live in the Brantford area, and was wondering if anyone else was close by or in Hamilton, Woodstock area. Wanted to get together some where in Hamilton next weekend I've seen one other rx8 in the Brantford area but was wondering if there was anyone interested in a small meet and greet possibly go out by the harbour grab something to eat, and go for a cruise! I want to meet other rx8 owners in the area . I think that would be awesome. Also I'm going to the 519 meet in Woodstock at the end of august and going to the big rx8 meet in Toronto in the fall. Would like to do this at least once a mouth.

I am available this Saturday late morning or mid day. For more RX8ers in this area, check out the "Central West Ontario Zone" thread for a recent number of '8 owners in the Hamilton, Branford, Burlington K/W, Milton, Niagara areas - You may wish to post this there as well. I live in Dundas and have tried to setup a few meets in Hamilton with little success. Its hard to get traction for these but we shouldn't give up. Some GTA RX8 folks are planning a RX8 Day this Saturday (Aug 8 - 8/8 for RX8's or 8848s) at Mississauga's Square One mall but it too late in the day for me (cruise from TO east end starts at 9pm; meet at Square One starts at 10pm).
