Question RX8 tire load index (91 or 94?)

Hey!

Just got my Velocity Red RX-8.. 6MT, loving the car!

I had a question about winter tires. I tried to search but couldnt find the answer. Basically a friend of mine has 4 blizzaks for sale but they are 225/45/17 91H... i know recommended is 225/50/17 94H but is 91 load index ok for the RX8? I know the RX8 is a light car but will I be in danger with 91 as opposed to 94?

Does anyone use 225/45/17??

thanks in advance

Congrats on your purchase and also in picking the RIGHT COLOR! :D

This thread has been usefull to me. https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-wheels-tires-brakes-suspension-55/snow-45401/

First winter coming up for me and I'm deciding between the Blizzaks/Pirelli/Yokohama on my stock rims since next year sees the arrival of 19" summer rims! Can't wait to drive this baby of mine in the winter!

I found Blizzaks noisy on my Audi BTW...

I bought a set of tires/rims from Dave Wood Mazda last year.
17" American Racing with 225/50/17 Blizzak WS-50 tires.

The tires never failed me last winter....there was only one day when I couldn't make it through the snow very well - and that was only because of low ground clearance and a lack of plows on the roads!

The Blizzak WS-50's are the muliti-cell compound and are only Q-speed rated (nothing over 160 km I believe).

Blizzak also has the LM-22 in 225/50/17 and they are V-speed rated BUT are not the multi-cell compound. They will last a little longer than the WS-50 but have a little less traction on the ice.

Go to www.tirerack.com for all the info you need on snow tires.
