Recommendations for new summer tires?

I just got back from vacation and I need to get new tires for my 8. I'm down to the wear bars on my OE Bridgestone's. Has any one got good/bad feedback on tires that are a bit less expensive than these puppies?
I can't be driving around with my steelies and snows in May.....HELP please!

I'm strictly a Bridgestone guy.
If you're not too concerned with setting track lap times, getting some re760's would be alright.
If you like having extra grip, do the occasional track day or auto cross, getting some s-04's would be ideal. I personally run the s-04's on my Miata.

Thanks Neo, my days of going to the track are done. I have always liked to drive a nice sporty car just for pleasure. I just took an early retirement and don't think I will be putting as many miles on as when I was working. I'm still driving with the original tires that came on the car. I priced out the same tire at over $300 a piece Cdn. I will check out the re760 and the s-04's. I liked the way the re040's gripped the road when they had less wear. ;-)
Thanks again for your input.

+1 for the Bridgestone RE760's.. I've had a set on my Speed3 for a few years now and have been very happy with them.

I've been retired for 8 yrs and I go for the softer 200TW tires, RE11's, RS3's, R1R's etc.
I've found the harder compounds get old and turn to concrete, before I wear them out.
The Hankook RS3's are the cheapest of the bunch.

The re040's are closer to the S-04's than the RE760's. And since you're not going to be driving as heavily as you use too (lucky you to be able to retire!), can't go wrong with the s04's.

They wear pretty well considering I use them on my daily driver.

My other car <-- wears RE11A's. It's strictly a nice weather car and has substantial power to overcome cheap lower grip rubber. Those RE11A's are basically an R compound tire.

RE760 is good for daily... same with Continential ExtremeContact DW's.

Both good value.

Thanks for all the input on the tires. I think I'm leaning towards staying with the Bridgestone...just have to decide which ones. I'll let you know later this week. I was hoping to use my tax return toward the cost but $69 bucks won't go very far! LOL

Hey spigot52....do you find that the softer tires wear faster that the one's that turn to concrete tho? I did find that my re40's gave me a bumpy ride as they got older.

You have to remember, those RE040's are 2 generations old tech in terms of rubber. It was superceded by the re050's and now the s04's.

I don't really experience a bumpy ride as the tires get older. I do realize the lack of grip whenever the roads get a bit wet once they've been worn down a bit. I usually go through tires every 2-3 seasons. I do a fair share of driving.

Yes I did... I also found that they were terrible below 10 degrees.
I also have a MX5 that is my wife's summer driver/ auto-x car. I run the RS3 Kook's
on it, but they are terrible on wet roads. When it is wet I run the Continential Extreme Contact DW's.
I also have a B3000 that I run year round, with winter tires in the winter. I have to replace the summer/no-seasons this year.... lots of tread left, but compound is getting hard and cracking on the sidewall.
