Question Recall Test

Hey Gang!! I got the recalls done on the weekend. However I tried the test to make sure I had the updated flash and the car didn't pass it.

Has anyone else in Canada tried the test to make sure they have the updated flash? I'm thinking that Mazda Canada sent everyone the parts and procedures to fix, however, they didn't provide the updated flash.

The test is as follows:

When your car is at proper operating temp, from a stop position, with the car in neutral and the ebrake on rev the car to 4000RPM for 120 seconds. This should cause the revs to automatically go down to 0 until you remove your foot from the throttle at which time the car's revs will go back to normal. (This will not hurt your baby.)

I let the dealer know the car didn't pass the test. They new nothing about the test but they were going to check with Mazda Canada to see if they had the updated flash.

Are you in GTA? Where did you get your recall done?

I got my recall done on the weekend as well. I didn't do the test you mentioned but I noticed on the statement it listed "Fuel tank insul." and "REPROGRAM PCM". Now of course I don't know if they really did flash it or just wrote it down.

Is this test "official" by the way? Like a Mazda mechanic could actually perform this test on your car to check the flash?

that test doesn't sound right.. rev the engine while standing still to 4000rpm for 2mins? I think i liked the previous flash tests.. hit the brake 20times or something like that..

I got mine done at Scarboro Mazda. But like I said, I didn't try the test. Like Mrlynx, reving for 2mins sounds a little long to me. I'm hesitant to do it to be honest :p

hey guys!!

i did that high rpm test at 8500rmp for like 10 sec and the low coolent light came on not sure after how long but i got scard and took my foot off the gas right away. My question is, is that what is sapposed to happen, as soon as the rpm's droped the light went off. some input or opnions would be nice. car is almost 2 months old with 5300km

No not kidding, if you look up the recall instructions http://www.finishlineperformance.com.../pdf/3305G.pdf, it will explain what you would want to do to test it.

I highly doubt that your coolant light is suppose to come on.

now i understand. the pcm update will have a safety mechanism that will cut the throttle if you rev the car for a long period of time.. So your basically testing the safety feature which is apart of the update..

correct, if you really care about that safety feature. It makes not difference to me, if I am sitting still revving above 8.5k for more than 10 seconds then something is wrong with me I would think.

For future reference you can look here for alot of Mazda tsb info.
