its that thing from ALIEN that grabs the guys face and puts the egg down his through. lol
seriously though i have no idea. this seems like its going to be both obvious and jaw dropping once someone guesses it or you are forced to tell us. haha.

hmm....is it a part of a piston? the groves being the ring lands and that spiraled peice of metal would be whats left of the oil control ring?
if i am right then that fits my assumption that it will be fairly obvious once revealed and jaw dropping in how much damage that equates too.

speed 3's dont blow engines the normal 3's with their 2.0 and 2.3L do i believe a connecting rod bearing normally fails causing the rod to come out of the block

Well John L gave it away because he knows about it! It is a piece of a piston from a 2007 Mazdaspeed 3! The "tail" is part of the oil ring that is wedged in whats left of the piston groove! I just kept it as a momento! The piston seem to have made a nice window in the block just above the starter!
