Talking New owner! Where do I buy parts?

Hello everyone! I am the new proud owner of a 05 Winning Blue RX8 GT. I am an avid bmw enthusiast, but I have found a new love. This car drives like none I have ever driven.

I've read through many many threads (something I should've done before i purchased the car) and damn.. there are so many issues and flaws with this car. I purchased my car with 160k km(FUUUUUUU!!!!!!!) so I am just outside of warranty. I would like to prevent these problems as much as possible so that I can enjoy this car to its fullest! Fingers crossed for it being a lucky one!

Where would be the best place to buy parts online / in Sauga/GTA? Such as maintenance (sparks, plugs, coils, oil filters, etc), and also aftermarket? Would it be more beneficial to order parts from the US instead?

Also, something I've had a bit of trouble finding.. I have a list of service bulletins that apply to my car. Most of them say that the part will be replaced under extended warranty. Yet my car is slightly out of warranty.. what will happen? If I can't get these parts replaced I'm going to be pretty pissed due to the ignorance of the PO..

Thank you all for your insight, and looking forward to meeting some of you!

you're SOL for TSB's. Though, it is possible that your car has already had them. Call your dealer to find out.
You said it right- you should have read, before purchasing the car...

Welcome to the rotary addiction! I hope you brought money!

The car may have low compression and if it does then Mazda may pity you and help you out even though you are at the high end of mileage.

Ignition: Consider BHR ignition but if not then get coils, wires and plugs

Install Sohn adaptor and run a good 2-stroke oil for the apex seals and synthetic in the oil pan.

Install the oil pressure mod from MazMart.

Access port allows control of the fan turn-on-temp and oil metering for apex seals and lots more plus lots of data collection. A good reliability mod.

Avoid stop-and-go traffic at any cost.

Install oil temp, oil pressure and coolant temp gauges.

I do most of my shopping online at Mazmart, Racing Beat, BHR and finishlineperformance.

RX8Soldier, damn. A few that apply to me are the faulty coolant temp sensor, failing front right engine mount, and clunking from the driveshaft, among a couple others. I did do a fair bit of research before buying the vehicle, but obviously not enough, because the information is endless which I love. The price was right however, and I don't regret my decision whatsoever. Every car has its quirks, and this car is absolutely no exception lol.

I've already spoken to the 2 previous dealers who serviced the car and I've gotten a brief list of what has been done to the car. Any idea what "engine miscellaneous" could be ? I was happy to hear a nice list of things replaced.. the more the better!

DarkBrew, thanks for such a loaded post. I've actually been wondering about BHR vs stock, and I'm slightly leaning towards BHR. Better to do it right the first time.. and if BHR is so much superior, I'd rather put a quality part in that will last me double the time (correct me if i'm wrong) or longer.

Low compression.. that is one thing I am damn afraid of. I don't want to pay the dealers for the compression test at this point in time, as the car feels very decent to drive. I've read that you can have low compression with no visible signs, which is scary having a vehicle in the high km range. Fingers crossed for now.

Sohn adapter and oil pressure mod I will look into. Haven't read a whole ton about these.

Cobb will be among the first mods for me. After the car runs beautifully (to my standards) the mods will begin :D My poor wallet..

I've already seen these websites before, I meant are there any Canadian websites, to avoid duties from buying over the border. However I'm assuming that buying from the US is the best option, so I'll probably be renting a P.O. box in Buffalo soon.

I was cruising down the 403E yesterday in the early evening, and a dark blue newer gen 8 passed by me. Beautiful colour. What I noticed the most was the rear rotary symbol lighting up with the brakes! Might need to look into getting that as well, hehe. I'm sure that was a member on these forums..

Thanks again for the replies, appreciated

Get the BHR coils. They're a nice product.
