My New Ride

Hey Everyone

New wheels are great, and torque... how i've missed it!

06 passat 2.0t (200hp, 207ft/lbs) luxury ride, 960km to the last tank of gas and looks pretty slick too

Mods are cheap! not sure where to start

Cheers and i will still be lurking

Not really, german parts are so ****** expensive! My sister owns a 02 Jetta and the prices for small mods are rediculous. After owning an 8, I realize how much cheaper most mods are, except GAS.

I had a 00' Jetta for three years before I got my 8 and I have to disagree. Everything was much cheaper to mod, example being decent coilovers for $600 instead of $1500 and exhausts for $400 instead of $1000. If your going to mod your dub, go with places like ECS Tuning and Techtonics for cheap, great quality parts.

Congrats on the purchase

Depends bro, cause I got My TurboXS exhaust for 500 Flat, I agree on the suspension but its a bit higher cause of the multi link suspension. I love the vdubs aswell, love the clean slamed ones on bbs rs with strectched rims.

The key point is "VARIETY" and "COMPETITION".

Mods are cheap for MkIV VW Jetta, especially when there are tons of vendors competing for the same group.

E.g.:
Exhaust (Europe $$$, Japan $$, USA $, Canada lol cheap)
Power chip (Europe MTM $$$$$$, then APR, GIAC in USA etc...all great price / hp ratio)
Suspension (Well you got the same deal...tons of vendors)

My point is, for similar MSRPs, a mass produced sportly family sedan will always be cheaper to mod than your dedicated UNIQUE sports car with much smaller owners population.

In this case, the MkIV VW Jetta/Golf line was the craze among the early - mid 2000s; Aftewards the URABUS takes over...

Just pure economics.

Gone but not forgotton...

0 to 60 in 6.8 or so,tight handling in the corners, and i have only passed by one other Passat in my drives. Piles of same gen Jettas and Golfs though.

The real reason for the change was the move to the new house which is 62 KM from work
At best i would get 415 km/tank in the 8... The Passat is 960 km to a tank (that costs me 10 bucks more to fill and is still premium gas)

To those of you that think i should have bought a Lotus.... are you paying for it? Take a Passat for a drive, it isn't as boring as you seem to believe.

Well, I like your new car. congrats on the purchase.
We looked at the new TDI jetta to replace our dying family car. I really liked it except the fact it felt like I was driving a tractor - so high off the ground... haha

I hope you know I was kidding you and congrats on the new purchase. I know what it's like when buying a new home and such, and get more than double the gas mileage is a real bonus. Enjoy!

I don't think we're angry...

Just upset.

Should have kept the 8 as a summery vehicle.

If I still own the car in the photo I will say:
"I don't like your modded / non-modded rx7/8 neither! I got more torque in one car than your TWO POS JAP Rotary crap TOGETHER! RE Amemiya sounds like pedo ****! ....Deutschland über alles!

HOWEVER, since I know you and also own the same torqueless wonder, I will just say:

"Thanks for shitting on my previous ride bro. Have a nice day."
